Question on SVS subs

SVS has recommended the PB12-Plus/2 for my HT system. I was wondering if anyone here who owns an SVS sub has utilized the Parametric Equalizer feature. ("The PEQ will allow you to tame the worst room resonance (a peak in the bass response caused by room modal patterns.")
If I order in basic black, it doesn't come with that feature. The wood grained models do come with it but cost a couple hundred more. SVS support said that unless the room had numerous openings that could lead to room resonance, that it probably wasn't necessary to have but I'm wondering for down the road if I might need it.
Suggestions?

For the PB12-Plus/2 model, basic black has no PEQ at $1,199. Same model with wood grain texture or piano gloss black has the PEQ at $1,399.____________________________________________________________

Myself, I would buy the color I preferred, then purchase a Behringer Feedback Destroyer ($100) if needed. I gives you way more flexible parametric points. I think it has 12 per channel a little overkill for HT, but it is a cool piece.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

100% agreed. I have one myself and an svs sub. -
Personally,
the peq didn't play a major part on my purchase. I also have the textured black and I love it. -
agreed.

I have a BFD and SVS as well. While an excellent marketing plan and perhaps a decent improvement - I would think you will want more than just one eq channel to control your bass. (if you are going to try at all) Even if it had a PEQ I would still get a FeedBack destroyer for $100 to act as an equalizer.
Long story short - get the color you want and don't sweat the EQ.

My Maple PB12 plus/2 has PEQ which I don't use since I have a pretty smooth house curve as is.

Good to know. I believe a black PB12-Plus/2 is in my future but need to save a few more $$.____________________________________________________________

I've had a PB-2/Plus (no PEQ) since last year; it eventually became the SVS PB-12 Plus/2. An extremely nice piece of gear; well-worth the money!
A comment on your eye-candy concerns: If you find that you're not satisfied with black it would not be too difficult to dress-it-up with a fabric/color of your choice. I think that someone with basic sewing machine skills could easily do this; it would probably require only four or five yards of material to cover four sides of the sub (the rear, for connectors, etc would remain uncovered). You could easily disguise this sub and have it look like an end-table or whatever. Put a lamp or something else on top and you'd never know its real function (especially if it's properly calibrated).
I have a pet 800 lb gorilla  so his home is sitting on my 140 lb SVS!

Great idea. Can't believe I didn't think of that before. I can have my wife sew a quilt for it. Maybe even cover all my speakers. It'll save the nice wood grain texture.
Is this kind of along the lines of what you were thinking?____________________________________________________________

BIZILL: Well my 795 lb gorilla (he's been on a diet ) is actually one of my "Imaginary Heroes" (great movie on DVD if you have not seen it...)that occasionally takes advantage of the solid construction of the SVS and rests his posterior there to absorb the soothing 15 Hz freqs; it keeps his temperament in-check !
dpowell: Great choice of fabrics!!! Dazzling!!! You'll have to furnish sunglasses to all visitors; no snoozing in this environment...
