How do you make a groovy homemade Cheese Steak sandwich?

I begin by slicing some thin sirloin steak strips as ribeye steak is now 2x the price. This goes in the grill for about 7 minutes a side at 400 degrees. Slice one medium sized red onion in half then half again (nearly julienned strips) then add to a 12" skillet with a tablespoon of sweet creamery butter. When the onion is done sauteing (10 minutes at low heat while stirring) I add some homemade pickled red, yellow, green bell pepper strips from a jar of 50/50 vinegar and water. 5 minutes later while stirring I add the sirloin steak strips. Next grab a roll and after adding some sliced white cheese of your choice (my favorite is jalapeno jack) place the roll in the oven for a few minutes to toast. A couple minutes later... add your fry pan of goodies and serve.

Noel, Actually it was the psychic "wish sandwich" network. ;)

This is something I came up with in my own kitchen after eating Cheese Steak sandwiches at a shop 2888 miles from Philly for years. They have Ya-hoo's and Tasty Cakes but no White Castles.

My recipe is mouth watering (the creamery style butter does the trick), but I'd love to hear from those that live and breath these, how ya'll make them.

Here in California, we have a Philly Cheesesteak Shop....it originated from Philly, and the idea is from the originals, but I`m sure the "real" ones are much better...

On South Street, no less :) Jim's Steaks are pretty good!

At home, I'm forced to just cook up some of those frozed boards of steaks and throw 'em in a bun. Definately not Philly quality :(. But did you know you can have Jim's Cheesesteaks delivered anywhere in the States?
    Ludicrous gibs!

sounds good, and i'd tear into one of those any day of the week, but, it just doesn't sound greasy and cheez whizzy enough to be called a cheesesteak. i haven't had a real one since greasy tony's left new brunswick. i think they're still open in az, but that's an awfully long haul from nj at 1 am.

anyway, here's how not to uh,order a cheesesteak:
