PM - I don't think you have to explain what happened; we can all see it as it transpired.

    Let's just let it drop.

Mac - I'm not so sure I'd enjoy seein' old Chevy Astros stuffed with 8 15" subs pushing 170db as much fun.

You would if you were there.....unless of course youre a sissy! :D

I didnt think I would be interested in it either til I went to watch one.

Its not just some dude going up there and turning his volume all the way up, there is a competitive element to it. Each competitor has a time limit and he has to beat his opponents so its fun to watch from that aspect as well as hearing 170 db's!

Yeah, I agree. I thought of addressing Jstas' last post, but we're not gonna reach a common ground on this one and even if we could what does it really matter anyway? I'm out...

why must this happen so damn often? you guys are once again both saying the same freaking thing, just in different ways... someone has to be the grownup and back off, concede that there are irreconcilable differences, and just accept it...

I thought so too. It would be hard to concede if there wasn't difference though, wouldn't it?

God dammit... the one and only year I miss USAC finals here in KC...

Now I'm as SQ as it gets but I'm a huge fan of SPL competitions strictly for the science behind it. As stated, it's not just throwing a bunch of drivers in a car with a lot of power and hoping your doors hold. It's even more impressive someone broke the 180 mark with only 13 drivers. Ever since I sat through an RTTI training with Fukuda going over the science of it all, I've been hooked on SPL competitions. I would love to build one myself but I can't even afford to put a system in my current car, let alone buy and build another car.

    Home Setup: Sony VPL-VW85 Projo, 92" Stewart Firehawk, Pioneer Elite SC-65, PS3, RTi12 fronts, CSi5, FXi6 rears, RTi6 surround backs, RTi4 height, MFW-15 Subwoofer.

Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener.

Man, Sounddomain has several Orion pieces on sale at ridiculous prices. H2's for $200! Amps for $125!!

I could never fit one in my truck without taking the back seat out by now my wifes little SUV has plenty o' room for a H2 and a couple amps! Id be lying if I said I wasnt tempted. ;)

Nah, Id only need one. A venerable 1200D would be plenty to push a single H2. I would love to have one of these things. I got to listen to one in Texas a few years back and it was awesome! Felt like it sucked the air right out of the room!!

The thing that worries me is that if these are going for that cheap on Sounddomain it usually means theyre discontinuing them and I shudder to think what DEI is going to replace them with.

These are one of my alltime favorite subs and Im going to be pissed if its successor isnt as good.

"The air space inside the truck is vacuum-sealed to prevent air leakage, which is crucial in Sound Pressure Competition."

    - from that guy's pioneer writeup page.

... i've been saying that for years. if you vacuum seal the inside of a vehicle, you can reach spl levels that were believed to be impossible within earth's atmosphere - you create an artificial atmosphere, and do what you want within it.

... i pitched the idea to several professorshere at the university at buffalo, all of which thought i was absolutely insane.

... next step - spherical interior. ever sit in the middle of a large amphitheatre that is simply a half sphere structure --- you can hear everything 100 yards away with no microphones or speakers.
