I saw this earlier today...Looks like they are shooting somewhere between the Hsu and ELT packages. I wish them well.

Their 5.1 system does not impress me at all. Go to their website and you can see a sketch/specs on them. I would stick to their subs and leave the other speakers to someone who has been in the mix for awhile.

They've been working on these for quite awhile. I wouldn't be shocked if they are surprisingly good, notwithstanding the specs.

Actually I thought the sketches looked alot like my LSi7 / LSiC setup. Looks like a great system for an initial upgrade from your typical HTiB.

Then again - even though it looks similar, I think I will stick with my LSi setup.. :D:D

BTW - anyone else notice that those speakers are not that efficient. You will need quite a bit of power behind them to get an decent volume levels out of them......

There was a thread at the Klipsch forum with about 6 replies regarding the svs speakers and it got locked.....guess they dont want to hear about or are very afraid of the competition....lol.

I saw them setting these up as a demo unit at their factory in Youngstown, Ohio. They didn't say much about it. They were calibrating their HT system.

I wonder what speakers they are comparable to from another brand?

I'm not a fan of sub/sat systems with my preponderance of music listening, but they can work for many people. Those may be decent speakers, but the I noticed they don't have very good sensitivity ratings for 8 Ohm speakers.

I wish them all the luck.... they'll need it. The entry level HT market has no lack of competition.

    And just off the cuff:

Entry level speakers with quite likely lots of entry level 5.1 all in one HT recvrs pushing them? Can you say piss poor sens?

I bet they will be much better then similarly priced HTIBs. $999 for a 7.1 channel system doesn't sound horrible to me.

I expect that they are aimed straight at Ascend 170s and Rocket ELTs. If they don't perform as well or better, I'd be surprised :) .

I'm sure for $1000 for an entire HT set-up they will perform.....well as good as can be expected. They certainly aren't anything ground-breaking. Look at those tweets. WOW, is that dome recessed. Can anyone say Beaming. How can you get a consistent dispersion pattern if the dome is so recessed? That's the only thing that jumps out at me as being peculiar. They are entering a stiff market at that price point. Hopefully they will perform well and live up to the reputation the subs have.

Also, my brother has 3 systems in his house. HT, 2-CH and computer. For his HT he has an Energy HT set-up very similiar to new SVS HT config. He bought these as a package and they sound excellent and are perfect for HT. The Energy's are smaller and more elegant looking than the SVS HT, which look rather sterile to me. I'm sure the SVS sub in the new HT system's is better than the Energy sub. But overall I like the looks of the Energy system better.

My point is that there is a lot of competition for HT packages, beyond the std. HTiB crap. It would really be interesting to see how the SVS HT set-up compares to the Energy HT set-up.
