Doesn't get more ambiguous than this...
Hey guys...I have this Chevy vechicle...can someone please tell me how this compares to another vehicle? -
I don't know about sound characteristics, but NHTs are typically lower efficiency (harder to drive) than Polks - at least from what I remember.

the only way for you to decide is to listen for yourself and decide. we all hear things differently. You may like NHT then bozo number 2 may think they suck. man i'm getting tired of all the damn posts about Polk vs brand X of speaker. dude listen to brand, x, y, and z for yourself then decide. posting something like this in a Polk Audio forum. what do yo think the results are going to be?PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

and maybe someone can offer some constructive thought instead of just telling him it's a dumb question...
I think it's a perfectly valid question. Where the hell am I going to go listen to some NHTs at? Maybe I'm looking at a pair online and am considering buying them, but am not sure because I can't find anywhere to listen to them?
Also, he didn't ask which is better (except for maybe the title can be interpreted as such), just wanted some comparison, facts. We all know that many speakers brands have their own characteristics, so maybe he's just trying to get a feel for what NHTs are like and get some general info.
He's on a Polk forum, so what should he expect? He's probably been around long enough to know that we don't blindly reccomend Polk and was maybe hoping for a little information... -
Pot Stirring!!! PM you devil.
NHT manufactures fine speakers. F1 brought a pair of bookshelf to PF04 to demo, I was very impressed with their detail, soundstage, and musical presence from such a small cabinet and would not hesitate to invest some coin in their products if in the market. As far as how they worked I believe they may have been a ported cabinet but really cant remember. I am sure Jesse could enlighten if he chooses to. Or I could go look it up but then so could you.

Your analogy as it pertains to his question is irrelevant... -
The only things that I know about NHT's is that they are very inefficient and are probably one of the most common speakers maggie owners move to when they are downsizing. This would lead me to say that the NHT would compare very favourably to the LSi line-but that would be heresay.
Just a guess: If you through the same ??? on AVS, you would probably get about 9 pro NHT responses per 1 pro Polk. There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin -
I Stand Corrected!!! DB, you have my apology. In general, I feel my statements still stand, but not under these circumstances...
I received this in PM from someone who will remain anonymous, and it's pretty much dead on:I don't think db was degrading the question at all.
I may be way off from this, but from my perspective, I see gadgetman posting a lot vs. threads, without seeming to do much research on his own. The reason I think that is because there is hardly ever a repost within the same thread outlining a personal opinion or understanding. Much of the time, it has seemed to start arguments among members, all based on our own opinions. I've even felt like some of the questions were aked to specifically start arguments.nht Vs polk TOWERS
Blue Jean vs. Monster
POLK VS VELODYNE speakers
Onkyo Vs Yamaha
Lcd Vs Plasma
POLK VS klipsch
Polk Vs Pinnacle Speakers
Monster Vs Ixos
Polk Vs Bose
towers vs book shelf
SVS vs Sunfire (?)
That's alot, considering the relatively low post count.
Gadgetman, if we're wrong, then please correct us. IN general though, it's usually considered bad form to start a thread like those above and then remove one's self from the conversation. I personally consider it bad form to ask any question and then not at least acknowledge the responses with a 'thanks'.

If you can't find somewhere to listen to demos of the two, find some independent reviews of both to read and pick the pair that fits your listening preferences best.____________________________________________________________

I do know that my microwave can handle 1000 watts peak. My old microwave could handle 1200 watts but it wasn't as efficient; i.e. took a more powerful amp to drive it.____________________________________________________________

Easy guys...
People have there own way of asking questions. If you look past your ego's you will see a new member lookng for some help deciding on some new speakers.
Both companies make excellent speakers. NHT have some cool kinda off the wall designs. You can have toe in without toeing in the speaker. They do however sound very different then most polk speakers.
As noted , you have to listen to both companies lineup in your price range and decide what you like. Don't worry about quality as both products offer tons of it.
Polk will get favored in here due to where you are.

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -

Hmm interesting. Well now that we have all been made aware of Gadgetman's latest posts, he will either come back to this thread & post some more or start a new Polk vs whoever thread.
He is either looking for useful information or he is just trying to stir up trouble. I'm always willing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Should he post another us vs them thread then he will immediately be added to my ignore list.
I don't have the patience to deal with trouble makers.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
I work with a guy who has a set of NHT's and I personally love them. I do feel the LSi's are a tad better but they're also more expensive. If it was me, for a couple extra bucks, I like the soundstage and imaging on the NHT's over the RTi's any day of the week. Plus, the all gloss black is 120 times sexier.Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener.
