I know they were discussing the possibility of leaving or whatever a couple weeks ago, but I thought they were just kidding around. What the hell?!? The place seems to have lost alot of it's personality.

Bingo, everyone complained that there is/was a "ruling" class or "core" members and that they had too much power, too much policing, etc...

Most will be back in a limited way, but I doubt they will ever be as involved as they were. We can hope, but this is a case of "Be careful of what you wish for..."

i doubt anyone's intent was to persecute senior members for any wrong-doings. i believe it was more of a "lighten up on the new guys a little bit" that was being asked of them. i'm sure we all appreciate our senior members and their knowledge and playful banter. i hope they show up around here again, as they are the pioneers who helped this forum become what it is today. i've noticed less posts from them, and i really miss them!!!

Well, let me edit that a bit. BTW, this is my guessing, I have no inside info:

Those members will be around to answer factual questions, but are highly unlikely to enter into any debate. At this point two things might happen. They get board and quit for good or someone succesfully taunts them into coming back.

I just don't think the complainers/newbies knew how much support these folks could have been.

Jesus Christ...who cares? I say this to anyone who would leave because of a couple of sniffling babies crying over spilled milk. Is the skin that thin? Give me a break. People always come and go, but my advice would be not to give it any attention. There is nothing wrong and has been nothing wrong with this forum. If some new guy is getting beatup unfairly you shouldn't be fearful of speaking up in their defense. Nobody can do anything to you here as long as you're consistent. Sometimes these new folks deserve it.

Just have fun, but remember the date below your name has nothing to do with what you can contribute to the board.

If that's the reason for folks leaving, well....Good Riddance!

I'm sorry, but I just didn't see that many complaints. Most of the complaints came from the newer members, and not from the established or semi-established posters. It was the same when I first started reading the board and a few months later when I decided to register. I never had any problems with anyone for the most part. Maybe it was because I didn't come in here with an attitude, like alot of the new members seem to have, as of late.

I would have never even thought about showing disrespect to any of you when I first posted here, much less now. I think it's sad that members like Doro, that have been around for years and have contributed as much as he did, have decided to part ways. I only hope that no more will follow and start a trend or a mass exodus to AK or other boards.

We have a very special corner of cyberspace here guys and gals, let's not change something that's not broken.

True James, alot of senior members contribute alot... some i like, some i don't care for, however if they wanna leave, like ive been told. Leave! or stay and contribute. we can't all crumble because some members decided to leave, do ya think sooner or later new people would join, and new or old people would get tired of some of the redderick, name calling, and such at some point. Ive been registered since 2001 that doesn't make me aloud to call names, be a smart **** to everyone and run off newbies does it? Its not a senior members isolated issue alot of people do it..

I miss a bunch of them, just because I enjoyed reading what they had to say.

That said...this is obviously a plot, hence the mass numbers of them that are gone..coincidence? ;) If that's the game that's going to be played then good riddance to them. These are all generous and gracious folks, but this smells very childish to me. Am I wrong? Do I not gain access to the special club because I say stuff like this? Guess so, because I didn't get the memo in my in-box. :D

If a private board is what they're looking for, well, then that makes sense. Whether fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your view, Polk Audio has a business to run and this is by all intensive purposes a 'public' forum. Beating the crap out of some guy who doesn't know the unwritten rules just makes me cringe every time. The one who comes in trying to peddle his crap or has an attitude right off the bat, well....they get what they deserve.

There's a ton of good folks still here and we have a nice template to continue to work off of. The 'sanctity' of this forum has not been compromised and once it is...I'll be gone too, but it'll be my choice.

I suspect they will both return at some future point. They care alot about Polk and this place, cant say I blame them though, most take a break for a while, let them breath a bit each person knows when they have had "enough" and needs a break. I recently left for about three weeks on business and came back missing this place. There are alot of levels in the order here and its a good thing, as long as a few of the core post and remind us of our values while we gather round the "history rock" its all good. BTW Tour2ma has been gone for quite a while also, he brings alot, got a PM from him and he had to vamous out of his house for Rita. Sure missed his music at the Fest. hehehehehehehe

you know sometimes it's good to take a break from this place and rejuvenate yourself. It's easy to get caught up in the drama of it all.. and take sides. **** happens as the saying goes. People change, people have lives, and sometimes we rub each other the wrong way.. intentional or unintentional, it happens.

I wish anyone who left good luck. It was a fun ride.. I still have alot of respect and admiration for those that left.. they taught me more than they could ever know. I don't have a bad word to say to any of them. Only, thanks for your help guys and you'd always be welcome back if you so choose. Now if only Sid would come back. :p

I think i'll stick around myself. Maybe i can teach some young punk a think or two about audio.

As long as Jesse sticks around we're ok. I consider him the Chief of Police in these parts and somebody has to keep order around here! Even cooler, if you dont straighten up he has no qualms about driving to your house, dragging you out in your front yard and whipping your **** in front of all your neighbors! We need more senior members like that!
