Velodyne DPS-12

I'm about to put together a 7.1 system, and I have narrowed it down to having the CSI-5 for center, RTI-12 for fronts, and FXI-3 for surround. I think that I'm going to get the Velodyne DPS-12, because so far it is the best that I heard in my price range, and I've narrowed down my reciever to be ether one of the new Onkyo TXSR-703, or the TXSR-803. I wanted to know what you guys thought about velodyne's subs, and if I should go with ether the 703 or the 803. Thanks

For that system Your choices are fine. Velodyne has been making subs forever and do it well.
I would choose the following with that system.
Velodyne SPL1000
Denon avr3805
They are the 2 I believe work the best with that system,

if you're getting a subwoofer and i ASSume you're going to put all speakers as "SMALL" with a 80hz crossover on your receiver, why don't you just save your money and buy a pair of rti8's. Those speakers will better match your csi5 considering they have the same drivers- plus an onkyo receiver isn't going to drive the rti12 worth a damn- and if you've got it as "SMALL" then you're just wasting that speakers abilities imo.

^^ agree
downgrade the speakers a lil and get seperates if possiable. Though I always think that having them there is better than not having...but thats if you're really rich...but if you were really rich you would upgrade to a higher line...
Oh well and of course
not gonna personally recommend them but of course SVS and HSU subs will be recommended...

What the others said about your speakers and receiver The Velo is a very nice musical sub. If you are getting a great deal $390 or less, I'd say go for it. It's very musical. If you are going above $400 then I would go with an SVS PB10ISD, it's just more sub for the money.
Combo rig:
Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B

BW Silvers
Oppo BDP-83SE -
Well the reason why I wanted to go with this setup is becuase I am able to get all of this stuff for dirt cheap, around $2000.

Sounds like accomodation sales for CC or Tweeter.
If you're going to be using a sub for all your bass duty, you really don't need the big RTi12's, IMO. Go with the RTi8's and an SVS. -
Your right, there are some advantages to working in retail, but when I'm playing my music, I only want to use the fronts.

Tweeter doesn't sell OnkyoDan

i as well recommend rti8's and svs over the rti12's. i don't feel as though i am missing a single thing, audibly speaking.
