you almost have to assume it is a joke. just in case it isnt.............

there is no comparison, Polk is far superior to Bose for less money. Especially the LSi series, its not even in the same ballpark

It's a joke because he's a joke. He just posted this because he joined to sell junk on here and got slapped around for his trouble. Now his other thread got deleted, and Mommy hasn't been paying enough attention to him, so he has to be **** in another thread.

Wow, the other thread is gone. It was up just a while ago. How long has it been deleted?

How did his post count go back to 1? Does that happen when a thread has been deleted?

It was an honest question. I have this one friend that is trying to sell me on Bose, but I have always thought Polk was better. I just wanted to get some feedback.

Sid's right... if your post actually gets DELETED, your post count will drop (so will everyone elses who posted in that thread). Back when we had the old Hall of Shame, the post counts would remain the same because the thread was just being moved and locked, not deleted.

crazythump- if it was an honest question, all you'd have to do is search for "bose" and you would've found our opinions on the matter. overpriced and **** for quality. A search for "blose" may turn up more opinionated posts.
    Ludicrous gibs!

Do your friend a favor and tell him to not even consider the Bose. There are many brands, other than Polk, that will blow Bose away and for less cash. IMO though, your friend would be hard pressed to find any better speaker than Polk that is in the same price range.

Ok, if Polk it is, then Polk it is. Here is my situation. I am turning my room over the garage into a theater room. My budget is $5000. I already have a plasma screen tv, what would you guys suggest in the polk line. I want the movie theater effect (Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS).

if this was a serious question...why would you put the current best available speaker against...just bose...

It's just that even the lowest lines here compare to bose...

if thats just for speaks, go LSi and dont look back
    LSi center
LSi 15 or 25 for mains
LSi FX and or LSi 7 for surrounds

SVS or Hsu sub, or polks PSW 1000 if it ever comes out

    +1 on LSi's
15's, FX's, and/or 7's and biggest SVS(or HSU) you can afford with $$$$ left over. Don't hold your breath on the PSW1000.

I also want some kinda of custom eclosure in the room so I can fool people. I am trying to think is there such a way to mount the speakers in the wall so you can't see them. Any suggestions?

The LSi25s will not perform correctly if encased in a wall. If you want to do in-walls, Polk makes excellent LSi in-walls.

Look at the link at the top of the page for home speakers

Check out the system showcase and look for SCompRacer's HT setup.
He used the top Polk inwalls with an SVS sub and the sound is amazing!
He's got the speakers listed there. ;)

I am being serious brettw22. Why would I waste my time asking the question.

ND13, I have $5000 dedicated for the speakers. There are so many brands out there, and every time I go to a different forum everybody says the same thing. There brand is the best, and everybody else sucks.

I just need to know what technical aspects should I be looking for, so I can make the best decision.

I'm sure someone will be able to help with all the technical specs you need. Aside from that, remember this:

You are the one who's going to have to listen to these speakers. You, not us, specs, or anyone/thing else should decide what speakers you get. You need to listen to the speakers yourself so you know that your ears like them. That's what counts.

    Good luck in your search.

do you already have all the electronics. if not.. $5000 may not go as far as you think. if that has to pay for speakers, wires, cables, DVD player, amp/receiver and beer.

I'd dedicate at least half of that 5K to beer alone. :p
