I keep seeing more and more people talking about turntables. Who has them? Any price range is OK.

I have one in use that I picked up from doro last year. It came equipped with a sonus cartridge, I just wish I had a few more carts to roll in and out to play around with. I have been finding quite a bit of new material to play around with for around 25 to 50 cents a piece, the collection is starting to grow again.

    Remember Radio Shack?

42-7012 Fully automatic belt-drive turntable w/pre-amp (in case your new A/V doesn't have the magnetic inputs anymore) $99.99

13-1334 Curtis Nostalgic Turntable includes CD player, AM/FM (probably looks better than it sounds) $99.99

42-7013 Direct Drive Manual Turntable by Accurian $149.99

No, I don't work at Radio Shack - I've just enjoyed my 42-7013 for a while now...

I have a Dual CS-741Q TT with a Shure V15xVR cartridge. I play LPs every weekend for about 2-3 hours. I use an external DAC with upsampling for CDs and it can't create the space and openess of analog. Playing SACDs comes close, though.

I have a Dual 704 that I like alot. I have been spinning vinyl as more of a fad type thing as of late. The main thing I like about vinyl is the hunt for good, used, cheap stuff.
    Setup:

    Nad 1600 pre
    Dual 704 TT
    Pioneer 707 R2R

I have a Pioneer PL-530 with a Shure V15 type IV cart. I like it but, it isn't hooked up in my room due to space constraints and the cables aren't long enough for the HT

I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I have two pioneers (PL-5something for my rig; front loading PL-86 for the woman's) and a technics 1200 for abuse. I rotated through a few nicer ones (Pro-ject, rega, etc), but I didn't trust the guys renting my house with them, so decided to hold off on a nice TT until I had the space to put it in my main rig. Since I've got about 1200 albums I'll probably be sticking to the vinyl for awhile.

Several... the most commonly used one is a bang & olufsen TX-2 tangential with MMC-4 cartridge on the living room system (EICO HF-81 and, usually, the Cornwalls).

No tt in the family room with the Monitor 7A's... it's an SAF thing.

I have a Dual 604 with a Pickering XV-15. Love it, but haven't used it much of late. Having issues that seem to be common with Dual tables. Getting very low sound from the right channel. Have tried several "quick" fixes but have n't had any luck. I need to re-wire the tone arm and I'm not sure I trust myself to do it. When it worked, I'd listen to and album almost daily.

I too love the hunt for the great LP score. Finding a great album for $.75 when it should cost 20 times that price is great. Mostly buy 80's era music, Talking Heads, Police, Clash, Elvis Cosello, Oingo Boingo etc.

Thinking about a upgrade to a Music Hall MMF-2.1. Maybe Santa will bring me one (in my 30's and my parents still like to give me gifts from Santa).

MMF-5 with a Goldring 1042. LPs from my High School and College days enhanced with thrift store finds (love the price, hate the cleaning).

As with CDs, a decent system makes the crap recordings sound more like crap, but the great recordings sound even better.

    Receiver: H/K AVR 630

I just got this as a gift from my neighbor brand new in the box.
How does it sound compaired to other brands and is there anything I need to look out for when using this with my 7.1 receiver?

This is the first TT I have ever owned!

    Thanks,

I just set up my system after selling our house (the system had to go down because it made the liv room look too small) and building a new one. I set up my Techniques 1200 with a Shure V15 type 3 and it sounds good. I had almost forgotten that LPs can sound as good or better that CDs.

Finally settled on the VPI after trying out 4 other decks over the last year+. Hoarded about 750 albums over the same timeframe and I'm still working my way through cleaning and listening to all of them.
I voted for "most of the time", but its really about 50% of the time. CDs and SACDs still make up a majority of my collection and I love them, but the older stuff on vinyl is just magic.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Yep - got a Kenwood, which was part of a system deal back in 1986. Used it as recent as yesterday. Always looking on eBay Oz too - would like to acquire a linear Technics or something else similar - wish we had Audiogon or Craiglist in Oz, as you get some good stuff on that over there.

Just gonna spin Tears For Fears, The Hurting on vinyl right now - ciao!
