I have just recently sold my two mega changers that i used for DVD's SACD's and standard cd's and now i am looking to replace them with a single 1-disc all in one unit. I would like some suggestions that you guys have on stuff that you have had good experiences with.

The two that i am looking at right now are the;
DVP-NS3100ES or
DVP-NS9100ES

Besides the price i could not really find what the differences between the two units are except about 500 bucks. Does anyone else know anything about these two players or could recomentd something else to look at would be really great.

Looks like you get 2 iLinks and DVD-A playback with the 9100.

I've been thinking about this myself. Here's some you may want to look at:

    1. Marantz DV6500 or DV7600
    2. Denon 2910 or 3910

2 things that i actually dont need, just as long as the playback quality on the other three formats are the same on the two units i think i will be going with the 3100 and save some much needed money.

However still open to other sugestions in players if anyone's got em.

Those are Sony models, right? They won't play DVD-A.

I've had a Denon cd 5 disc player for about 10 years and it still works very well. Recently I bought a Denon 2900 (old model) universal player and it has a fantastic picture compared to my $130.00 Sony.

Don't know how this rumor started....no DVD-A playback on the NS9100ES. It said so in the owner's manual. It will play DVD-Video though.

Yeah, that pup is a bit "spendy" for my wallet. I've heard that the best compromise is the 3910.

I was wondering when Sony was going to come out with some new single disc ES DVD/SACD players. They must have purposely disconnected the DVD-A capability. The only thing I can see that the new Sony's have going for them over comparably priced Denon players is the 5 year warranty. Still, the year old Denons have all the significant features of the new Sony players plus DVI output without an adapter, HDCD and DVD-A capability built in.

I love my 2910. The picture blows away my old toshiba DVD player (for both sound and video). It also blows away my old toshiba cd player (but that bit anyway, and with SACD how can I really compare).

Every review I read had good things to say about the denon.

Well where i work only has has the 2910 on display and not the 3910. I am going visit cructhfield this weekend so i can do the whole touchy feely thing that i like to do with electronics since i they have the 3910 on the floor. As it is right now i think i am dead set on getting the 3910. i asked them if they had the 5910 on the floor and they just laughed, apparently company wide they only have 3 availiable. It must be something with denon because when i checked my inventory no store in my region even had the 5910 but there were 3 avaliable for sale sitting in a wharehouse. i wonder if dennon only gives 3 at a time to all of their authorized dealers???

Cool thing about the 2910 is the "rarely seen on a DVD" IEC power cord socket. Very cool.

yeah i did notice that about all the players starting at the 2910 and up. I like that becasue i plan on eventually replacing all of my equipments power cords. The 9100es sony i was looking at had the IEC socket as well.

Well, i bought the 3910 yesterday, I got it for just under 1,000 so i am pretty happy about that.

After i pretty much spent all last night and today playing around with it i am very impressed. Even on regular cd's this player seems to add alot of warmth to them plus the customizable pure direct modes are great.

The upconversion on the dvi output it simply phenomenal, this is simply some of the best video i have ever seen output from a dvd player.

All in all i am very pleased with this unit. Now i just have to spend the money to replace the power cord on it.
