Okey Dokey- got my new speaker stands hooked up. Pleasantly surprised too.

First I have to say that these are the only 'nice' speaker stands I've ever owned. The other stands I had were 22" 'wood' speaker stands I bought from Radio Shack about 10 years ago- very cheap, but held the speakers up.
I always scoffed at the difference in sound a good speaker stand can provide- until I put my rti4's on these and filled them up with sand (i had never even heard of doing that until i came onto these forums either)
All I can say is WOW! My rti4's no longer sound neutral- they actually have a warm sound with them now, and no resonance!
Not to mention the original reason I got them was for a nice, contemporary look. If anyone's familiar with the silver lining of the new Rti grills and the silver faces when the grills are off- these stands look like they were freakin' made for the rti 4's and 6's- ESPECIALLY when the grills are off!
Anyway I just wanted to share my thoughts on the first REAL speaker stands i've ever owned. Definitely worth the money.

Great...this is good to hear. I need to get some stands for my Athena's in the other room. They are now just sitting on top of a storage dresser and I've been getting some weird resonance that I know is from how I have them set-up. This just reaffirms my suspicion. This being a 2nd system it doesn't get the attention to detail the other system gets....but I need to get some stands.

I know these aren't as good as the ones you bought, but I am looking to buy some stands too and I am limited to selections if I want to use my discount(otherwise would'nt be able to afford them). Anyways will these sound good even though they are not going to be able to be filled with sand?Setup:

Great to hear that they improved your sound quality. I just ordered the same stands, but the 31" and I have the RTi6's. how much sand did it take to fill them up, and how did you mount your speakers to them?Yamaha RXV-757

To fill the cavities to the top- hardly any. I bought a 50lb. bag from Lowes for like $3. I knew I wouldn't need all of it- but it's the only size bag they offerred. As far as mounting the speakers- there's strong doublesided tape mounts that come with the stands.
I was going to go with the 31" inch versions- but imo they just didn't look right with the small rti4's and just didn't look right in the room. I couldn't be happier. -

That's not bad for $69. At Circuit City mine cost $99- I would never pay that for stands- but I got lucky and found a brand new pair on Ebay for $40 incl. shipping.
Krazy if you do a google for the Omnimount Cosmic24 you'll find them all over the net for less than $70. -
Well its only $60 at Fry's and closer to $40 with my discount if I had $70 I would go with the Omnimounts. I just need them to get me by for a few months until I get my speakers.Setup:

For $40 that seems pretty straight. They seem like nice stands. -

I just got my Cosmic 31" today and put them up and they really do make my sound much better. It seem like a get a richer sound from having my RTi6's on the stands that are filled with sand. They are very nice looking to, I like the silver footings on them. I wish they were a little lower, but I think the 24" would be to short, I wish they had them in 28" that would be perfect, But I'm happy with it overall, I will get use to them being a little taller than expected.Yamaha RXV-757
