I'm ASSuming there aren't many tennis fans on this forum, but today is going to be special. Quite possibly Andre Agassi's last match- and he's going up against the greatest tennis player of all time in Roger Federer (sorry for all the Sampras fans=)

With Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York and it being 9/11- even if you're not into tennis i recommend tuning in to CBS at 4pm est. I think it will be a historic and very special sporting event. :)

Yup. Im afraid its over with now. No way Andre can come back against 2 break points, not against Federer anyway.

    And Pete's won 14!

Uh no....Peter Sampras won 10 grand slam titles and 52 singles titles.

Jimmy Connors won more than twice as many singles titles at 109.

Roy Emerson has the most grand slam titles at 12 and Borg & Rod Laver are 2nd with 11.

doesn't matter anyway. Great match- if Agassi retires today you couldn't ask for more out of such an outstanding competitor.

    That's 6 grandslam titles gentlemen.
Imo Federer would chew them all up in their prime.

    Ashe
    Laver
    McEnroe
    Connors
    Borg
    Edberg
    Becker
    Courier
    Agassi
    SAMPRAS

    doesn't matter. He's the man.

Fun to debate, but there is no way possible to make that statement and back it up. I still say by pure number of wins as some have suggested is the way to measure....that puts Connors as the best all-time with 109 Career Singles Titles.

i'm not trying to back it up. It's only an opinion. What an incredible match. I hope Agassi doesn't retire- but I'm just waiting for him to say it any second. :)

LOL! Yeah, I get all my info from the internet also. I had to go to Sampras' website to get the 14 cause I didnt know offhand.

Well congratulations to Federer. I was pulling for Andre but there is no denying Federer is a machine right now and nobody can touch him.

He sure sounds like he might....I hope he doesn't, but I can't imagine at age 35 the amount of effort put forth preparing and then playing for 2 weeks. I'm not sure he has it in him to do it again. He has played as well as he can possibly play and still is the runner-up. I guess it depends on if he can continue to play knowing he will never win another major. I say go out on top, like Sampras did insted of waiting until you reach the bottom. Sampras could've continued to play but probably would have been a long-shot to win another Major, which is what these guys live for.

Another amazing fact I just discovered.

The years 1978-1984 only 2 players won the US Open McEnroe or Connors!

Wow, that's pretty impressive they really dominated the Open back then, two competely different styles of play.

Again.....my addiction to looking at items on e-bay has uncovered another "gem". I thought of you Noel.....what more could you ask for? McEnroe & Cash do Zeppelin with others.
