That could be considered an excise tax on stupidity.

I have experience with the Krell master Reference sub and I can tell you it's the baddest sub I ever heard. I watched TOY Story 2 with all krell monoblocks driving Krell Lat series speakers wired with Transparent and It felt like the Truck wind pushed me back in my seat. When they where trying to cross the road, a truck came screaming by and man it felt like it came through the room.
That sub also shook a model. At the hi fi show a few years ago, Krell had it there and was shaking an entire floor or 3. You could feel the ripples in the floor on the other side of the motel. Crazy amazing. SVS has nothing on it or anyone else for that matter.
There is one other sub I have heard go that well isn't in the same league but was crazy nonetheless, Wilson Watch dog. Bad **** sub and crazy heavy.

You asked for it...
The SVS B4...
If I remember correctly it hit 120db, 16hz - outside. (at 1m)
It takes ALOT of power though...

B4 is a cool subwoofer because it is ported AND push pull. Should be uber effecient.
And... considering you can buy several of the B4's at the price of that thing... you could buy MULTIPLE B4s.. - Stereo subs anyone?? - SVS even, indirectly, mentions the Krell in their intro to it (25,000 sub that should be scared).
At the price range of the Krell, it gets to stupidity - kind of like the Wilson XS - which is a much bigger subwoofer.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Man...I wanna B4...
...maybe even two...

While I'm a big fan of SVS, it's not the be all, end all of subwoofers. Just because a box has 4 drivers doesn't make it the best. I don't speak from experience though, so I can't really say for sure, but every trade magazine I've ever read that mentions the Krell Master Reference (Sound and Vision, Home Theater, and others) refers to it as probably the best home theater sub in the world. The REL Studio III is up there as well, although the KRELL probably has the edge for HT performance. I'm sure the B4 is an amazing piece as well, and would be interested to see how they compare head to head. To the average consumer, the Master Reference may be a ridiculous amount of money, to rich people, it would probably be worth it to know they had the best. All else aside, KRELL is some of the best gear in the world for Home Theater.Current System:
Mitsubishi 30" LCD LT-3020 (for sale**)
Vienna Acoustics Beethoven Concert Grand (Rosewood)-Mains (with Audioquest Mont Blanc cables)
CSi5-Center (for sale**)

Im not exactly saying its better...
but its performance wouldnt be far off for only 30,000 less.
I would much rather have the Wilson XS to be honest with ya. Dual 18" woofers and everything, weighs 700 pounds. Now THATS a subwoofer.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I have heard and Installed both, the krell sub is badder then the Wilson. The Wilson however is one nasty sub.
Both subs are incredibley musical. Rel's Studio III is another sub thats just amazing.
