Since I am new here, I want to know what some people on the vintage list are running with their polks. I have my new Polks and have new amps on order, I have listed the system below.

I will send in a photo when my amps arrive. I also have an Infocus projector, and two small 13 Toshibas on either side, for multiple station viewing during sportcasts. My old stereo being replaced had the Nak tape decks, and the adcom preamp, but had Adcom GFA555II amps and Carver ALSII Plus speakers...a lightning bolt took care of my amps and speakers real quick...they are toast.

Here it is:

Adcom GTP 600 preamp
Nakamichi OMS7II cd player
Nakamichi Dragon Cassette Deck
Nakamichi RX505 Cassette Deck
Bryston 7B ST monoblock (left channel 800w)
Bryston 7B ST monoblock (right channel 800w)
Polk Audio SDA SRS speakers
Alex Cagann

Polk SDA SRS
Lexicon DC-1 preamp
(2) Lexicon 501 monoblock amps
Parasound CD Transport 1000
Parasound DAC1000
Nakamichi Dragon
Nakamichi RX505

I am stil trying to decide which one I like best..!
The Ah! is fully Modded with the up sampler board , power cord , tubes, etc.,....very nice cdp..

The jolida just has some new tubes in it , and is an outstanding cdp in it`s own right...

They are both very different from the other

    AH!=tube/SS sound
    Jolida=tube/tube sound

If this makes any sense ...
as you can tell, I`m not very good at this

you should be happy with your choice, just make sure to change the tubes, as the stock ones sound "thin"

But am I the only one to notice that, lately, the newbies already have some killer gear and for the most part, unless they're new to SDAs, they don't need to upgrade anything. That is, of course, unless the addiction just makes them do so :D

Yeah, just look on Epay or Agon, and you'll see just how much of a good investment those Macs were. :)

I went for the level 2 mods. which have upgraded tubes and various stuff. I'm not much of a tube-head yet but hopefully they are as good as listed. To date I've not herd a better sounding play then my old Mac that I could afford. The Jolida seems to be very good stock and with the upgrades it should - let me rephrase that Better sound better!!! The have a 30 day return policy so I fell good all will be ok. Let you know later next week:)

Yamaha CA-610II integrated amp with my Monitor 7A's. They've been together since 1978; don't see any reason to separate them now.

In fact, listing to "A Prairie Home Companion" on them via their almost contemporary Yamaha T-550 (ca. 1980) as I type this...

What I got now is in my sig. I had a pair of Carver TFM-35 amps in bridged mono prior to the Rotel. A McAlister tube amp is due next week, and then he will build me a tube pre amp. We are still working out some of the pre amp details.

Need to work on the CDP next. Kind of light on the ka-ching right now though.

HA!......Far from humble my friend, far from it.

Nice rig!! Nice TT!!! From those pics, it looks like that room is HUGE. Are you not getting stray waves off those pretty, hard wood floors? It looks like you've had your SDAs for a while, so give a little review of your findings when hooked up to your MF gear.

    Loh,

    Welcome to the forum.

Nice set up, nothing better than Musical Fidelity and SDA 2.3TL's. :D

I see you still have the SL3000's. Polk now sells a silk dome replacement tweeter, the RD0198-1, which is smoother and has more detail than the originals. I highly recommend you try them.

Yeah, what are those black circles on your speakers???
