SVS Pc Ultra Plus Phase?

Ok. I am not exactly sure what I am supposed to be listening for with this adjustment. The phase lets me choose between 0 and 180 but I don't really understand what it accomplishes. Do I just fiddle with it until I am satisfied or is there a method to the madness?

In my room, there is a definite difference in output when I adjust the phase. Maybe you guys are just lucky and have flat response.
