Is the Denon dvd 2910 & the 955s the same player? Also, does the Denons still have macroblocking problems? thanks

2910 is definitely a step above. The 955 is a silver version of the 1710, or 1910, can't remember which. If the 955 has a Faroudjia chip, it's a silver 1910, if not, a 1710. The 2910 comes in Silver or Black, and is a much better unit. Not sure of the macroblocking, but haven't heard of any issues with Universal Remote brand or the Pronto, the most popular that I sell.

The 955 is the 2910. Absolutely no difference. The only reason they have a different model number is because it's in their "Specialty Line." It's for certain retailers who cannot carry everything Denon makes and the 955 is the best dvd player in that lineup.

The 2910 is a fantastic dvd player for the money. We haven't had any problems with it and I have installed alot of them. Denon is known for bad DVD players right out of the box. More then anything else we carry.
