Ok guys, I'm gonna get some sleep.

I'm going to call it, that's it - NO MORE. In what, less than 12 hours we have raised over a GRAND - and I still have to spend the majority of it tomorrow morning. You guys stepped up, and if you didn't make it in - you can STILL donate funds online, or over the phone DIRECTLY to the Salvation Army relief effort.

I'm glad I installed the helper springs on the truck, I think I'm going to need it. Stay tuned for final tally/pics - but NO MORE MONEY!!!!

    FREAKS!!! God love you.

Dave, don't apologize, your $ will be spent, and spent well for the cause - I wrote that post AFTER yours came in.

THANKS RuSsMaN FOR YOUR GOOD DEEDS AND THE REST OF THE GREAT MEMBERS OF CLUB POLK

As a member who has family that lives on, near, and around the Gulf Coast I commend everyone involved with this drive. I have yet to hear news for the good or bad about my family, but I feel like they are all just fine, you know that gut feeling. That's not to say they didn't have a lot of property damage, just that health wise I feel that they are all okay :) .

KUDOS to everyone. This club will be blessed with tons of KARMA!!!!!

Just got back. They moved the relief center to Texas Stadium in Irving. I was greeted by tons of Boy Scouts that were VERY happy to see what the little S-10 was dragging in.

The big rig you see, that's where your contributions are now loaded, and will be headed to rural / small town Mississippi late this afternoon / early evening. Your supplies will be IN THE HANDS OF THOSE IN NEED TOMORROW MORNING.

So what did we get for the good folks? Here's the run down.

7, 6lb cans of green beans
2, 6lb cans of sliced peaches
2, 6lb cans of fruit cocktail
    4, 6lb cans of applesauce
6, 6lb cans of Ranch Style beans
3, 6lb cans of chocolate pudding
10 cases, 24 per case, Quaker Breakfast bars, assorted
    10 cases, 24 per case, 16oz V-8 vegetable juice
10 cases, 30 per case, 8oz Minute Maid Juice box variety (orange, fruit punch, apple)
6 cases, 24 per case, 12oz Gatorade variety
12 packs, 7 pair per pack, mens crew socks
12 packs, 6 per pack, womens ankle cuff socks
30 new T-shirts, 2XL, assorted colors (red, yellow, blue, grey)
10 packs, 6 per pack, mens Hanes briefs (sizes 34,38,40)
9 packs, 6 per pack, ladies Hanes briefs (sizes M, L, XL)
    20 new bath towels
12 packs, 18 per pack, washcloths
5 packs, 10 per pack, Lever 2000 bar soap
40 packs, 50 per pack, 'Handi Wipes'

In case you were wondering what your individual contribution did - here's one way to break it down:

If you donated $10, you just gave someone:
A new shirt, pair of underwear, pair of socks, couple breakfast bars, couple Gatorade/Juice, and a pack of wipes.

If you donated $20, you just gave someone:
2 new shirts, a couple pair of underwear and socks, a clean towel, some ceral bars, half a dozen Gatorade/V-8, 2 packs of wipes.

If you donated $50, you just gave someone:
2 new towels, an 18 pack of washcloths, case of Gatorade, Case of Ceral pairs, 6-pack of undies and socks, 2 new shirts, and a 6-pack of wipes.

If you donated $100, you just gave someone:
4 towels, 4 shirts, 2 packs of socks, 2 packs of undies, case of Gatorade, case of Juice, case of V-8, case of ceral bars, 2 packs of washcloths, 10 packs of wipes.

Proud to know you guys. We just impacted lives. Think about it.

    Cheers,
    Russ

34 grams of carbs (only 12 sugar), 220 calories, 9 protien, 3 dietary fiber (IIRC).

You're right about the stick to your gut thing, going for the 'full feeling' on that one.

    great job Russman !

Russman has been in the "book" for quite some time. Always ready to help!

On another note. (hope you don't mind on your thread russman). Talk to your companies! My company has reps from those areas. They lost everything. The company is matching all of the employee donations! Not sure how it will go over but I'm thinking of a big company lunch to boost up what they have to give. Hmmm... Lunch for 100 people will be quite a production although I have done it before. We have some big eaters here. :D

DaimlerChrysler just announced that they will match all donations that their 4000+ dealerships donate. That will turn out to be a mighty tidy sum once it's all tallied :)

Our company (Albertson's) has donated "$9 million in water, food and general merchandise from its hunger relief fund and will also establish a $1 million cash-matching fund to match donations from customers and associates."

Not bad for a company that just announced on Friday that they're looking for someone to buy us.........dipshits.....

My employer, JPMorgan Chase donated $1million to the Red Cross and will match employee donations up to $1million for a possible total of $3million.

In addition to donations, my deparment (Auto Finance) is also working out ways to help/relieve customers that have auto loans out with us in the effected area.

The amusement park I work at is having a fund-raiser for the relief on the 11th. Buy a wristband for $15, and do everything in the park all day, all procedes are being donated, the park is taking in no money for the day. Anyone near the Jersey Shore, come on down if you can please. Blackbeard's Cave in Bayville, NJ. For anyone who is close and can come, theres stuff for the whole family, Go-carts, batting cages, paintball, mini-golf, etc. Like I said, all procedes that day are being donated. If you can come, please do.

I forgot to add this part too, many of the employees today worked for nothing, so more could be donated, as part of our contribution. Many of us from noon till 10pm.

I went to Lonestar for dinner last week on Sunday I think it was and they donated all the profits, corporation wide they said, to the hurricane victims that night. The single location I was at hauled in almost 20K for the day. If that is average across the nation then that was a pretty big haul too.

I don't know what my company is doing but usually they are running and maintaining equipment being used and volunteering test pilots and such for flight line work in rescue/relief vehicles. They probably dumped a pile of cash is someone's lap too and set up a fund to deduct money for your pay check to get put in that fund. It closes on like October 1st and each week, the money in the fund is sent to the various organizations that need it. Last I saw, the employees alone had donated over $1M a week.
