Below is a list of items, from which I will make a group purchase, and deliver to the Salvation Army Relief center in Dallas, on Club Polk's behalf.

*EDIT*
Over $1000 has already been collected, please make all other donations at this point DIRECTLY to the Salvation Army relief fund, or the charity of your choice. It's a time/weight issue now with what I can haul, SAFELY.
*EDIT*

This is short notice, but I'm going to close this one tomorrow at noon, so I can go ahead and make a run now. Anything, anything at all WILL help. If you can do $5 DO IT. I'll provide a copy of the receipt(s) of purchase, and photo the truck loaded up.

industrial-sized nonperishable food
bottled water
new underwear and socks
diapers
baby wipes
work gloves
plastic gloves
baby formula
hand sanitizer
insect repellant
personal toiletries, i.e. toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc.
flash lights

If you don't feel comfortable donating this way, please take the time to go directly to the salvation army website, for links on how to make monitary donations. You can also contact you local news agencies, radio, and tv stations - for more info on how you can help. You can also give blood, or volunteer your time, it doesn't HAVE to be money.

PLEASE keep this thread limited to donation commitments ONLY. There are plenty of other threads discussing the tragedy in detail.

Cheers,
Russ

I'm in for $50. Wish I could afford more. Even $50 is taxing on me right now but I'm no way even close to the position these poor people down there are in.

Russ, I don't do paypal so please send me an addy.

    $20 headed your way.

The school where I work is going to do something similar, except they're taking monetary and other goods donations. They're gonna fill up two big display windows with the stuff, then send it along in a few weeks. Chances are they're still gonna need it!

I hear that the red cross and other places are ONLY accepting money, but that salvation army is accepting physical goods. That's why we're doing both...

Good on you, Russ... can't wait to see the pics.

Russ, I already gave cash to a couple of different charities, RC and SA. If you're going to take everything tommorrow, then I couldn't possibly send a care package before then. Are you planning on making anymore at a later date? If so, I will put together a care package of toiletries, clothes, batteries, canned goods, etc, etc...

Noel- I don't think Russ was looking for material goods... He's looking for money so that he can go out and buy the material goods and take them to Salvation army. If you have material goods yourself, take 'em down to your local Salvation Army!

Sorry, I just saw the list and thought that he could actually get the stuff there faster than my local SA could, seeing that he's only a hop, skip, and a jump from NO. Even with the mail time considered.

Russ, just dropped some coinage in your PayPal account.

Thanks for stepping up and organizing this.

I had to use my credit card as a funding option so if there are any fees incurred, let me know how much and I'll take care of them for you.

I guess another $50 won't kill me, it'll slow down the tube amp fund a week or so, but this is much, much, more important than me getting my amp. I don't have paypal, so I guess I'll send you a MO. I think I still have your addy.....yep, still have it from the U2 cd karma ;)

$30 coming at ya via Paypal. Good to have someone close to things who can put the money directly into useful goods.

Too bad Paypal isn't offering a few days of fee-free transfers so all the money flying around for this cause ALL gets where it needs to go. Oh well.
