Feeling Down?

Damm I am in a dark place. CP's best resident curmudgeon Mr. GG recently wrote how as you get older you realize life is replete with Suckocity. I really try not to give in to this, counting all my considerable blessings. But Damm, I am sitting here feeling so low today.

Effin, Katrina is bearing down on La/Miss and people are going to die. Lives are going to be ruined. Worse, other's are right now figuring out how to make money from the certain tragedy, of course in the name of Capitalism.

Our people, especially the young ones are dying everyday in Iraq. Seems to me a bunch of local thugs are out of control. George, I and others have lived through this before.

Gas, well forget it, we have a thread on that been going for days, who's to blame, everyone? I suppose its about greed though.

Real Estate, I was watching a golf match and some yahoo in San Diego is selling little lots on a golf course for 3 million each. The fellow commenting from England found this very amusing and of course ridiculous. He said you did get a nice weedy vine for your 3 mill. though.

Sports, Christ, we all get to handle the freight for the whole shebang. 35 bucks for a cheap outfield seat, we know why. Dont go, yea right, that bag of what ever, or shoe you wear, wanna bet a little of your dough went to some sports mogul.

By the people, of the people, for the people? What people?

Has true freedom failed. I listen everday to bull crap manipulation.

Well, enough, I am going to listen to Aimee Mann and then some Blues, yea, I took the guns out of the room. This Sucks. I hope my personal eclipse is over soon.

    Ted,

Look toward the positive side of things if you can, the End is near Jesus is coming. Fear not, it's the young one's in this world I worry about. Not the older ones.

    You're weirding me out dude.

    RT1,

If you're just venting that's cool. But if you are really down, consider talking to a doctor/psychologist/therapist. I'm not judging you or your opinions, but maybe there are other issues or maybe you are suffering from depression. Just trying to help.

Hey RT1, you still got us here. that's reason enough to put a smile on your face.

we all get down now and then.. hopefully those feelings only last a short time. Things when you look at it differently aren't as bad as they seem to be. Things have a way of turning around. it may look dismal right now.. but it will get better.

Think about all your friends who would bend over backwards to lend you a hand. think of all the good times your family has brought a smile to your face. think of how without this forum you'd be listening to Bose right now. :p ugh, that's a scary thought.

Keep your chin up buddy. Tomorrow is a new day.. and things will get better soon.

    Don't worry.....Be Happy.....

Look at it this way, you could be in some communist country, family being tortured, two of your legs torn off, rats eating your face, etc. I'm sure someone somewhere out there is having a much worse day than you are. :)

And if that doesn't help, this makes me crack a smile every time I see it... ridiculous.

Ted, my brother, there is no doubt the world is a mess. Money (greed) and religion (in the name of God......) have been the root cause of untold troubles almost from the beginning. There is no end in sight, but it could always be worse, so be thankful for the life you have and the good people that surround you.

    Amen Jesse!

Ted, I am with ya with the exception that my personal eclipse has been ongoing for quite some time now, and it seems like even though I go to bed thinking to myself (o.k. tomorrow will be different, it will get better, I can get these things that have been on a todo list that have been staring at me for over a year now done, and this month the money situation will improve because I can make it happen ), well......it just doesn't seem to improve no matter how hard I try to make it happen and there is just one obstacle after another standing in the way to keep me from getting a leg up.

I guess the one thing that keeps me trudging along with the will to live is my children, even if things never improve at least I have them, but I still have to set the example that dad is not giving up even in the face of all the crap that I have to deal with on daily basis ( thats a hard face to put on sometimes). They think dad is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I am only human and I screw up alot, but I guess they just see right past that and I only wish that I could see past it too. If I could just get the friggin blinders off my eyes maybe I could see the forest for the trees but it seems to have no end in sight.

I guess just like it has already been said, we both need to just get past it and load up some tunes and have a brew and just chill and put it all on the backburner for a bit and maybe, just maybe, this much will help us keep our sanity. Not to mention the great community of guys we have here to talk to when we are feeling a bit down. Well, I'm off the fridge and man rig for a while. :D

    take care bro,

    Hey Reel,

That dark place can be a blinding supernova if your wife and kids are there. I meant what I said in the suckousity post, but Jesse absolutely nailed it with one sentence. The second one in his post to be precise. Everybody needs something to get them through the night. It only gets ugly when they'll do anything to get "it", or try and shove whatever they've found down YOUR throat.

Stay close to your family and watch over them like a hawk, cause nobody else is going to in this day and age.

Thanks guys, guess I just needed to write it out. CP really is a great place, I know many of you on a personal basis, some others well, we will meet soon in MD. But I count everyone as a audio bud who visits. Those poor folks in LA are going to get buried. Just hope they all get out or in the Superdome.

GG, you got it man, this old bird fought for everything I have, the bastages got to come through me first and I've been tried before. Sorry you cant make PF, now if I can just get BDT out of the picture!!!

BTW, there is a new little group of darlings called MS13 who want to rock our world. They are loosely organized on a national basis but mostly east coast, watch for their call letters around your neighborhood or school, they think its cool to help Al Qaida with financial things like drugs etc. Your children may mention them, their for real.

I will be fine, thanks again guys.

Well, I'm only 19, but I've already seen a lot of the **** life can throw at ya. There have been times when I've been more depressed than others, but for the past 2 1/2 years, the thing that's kept me going through it is my girlfriend. Without her love and devotion, I'd be in a lot worse place than I am right now.

My life still isn't all roses, but I'm trying to deal with it one day at a time and not stress over every damn thing that comes along. Find happiness in the little things in life- spending time with the people you love (first on my list, as I've lost two already), spending time with some good-sounding audio, or taking a hike out in the woods, if that's your kind of thing. Not everyone in the world sucks, but the people that do make their presence known tenfold...

I like to go out to Ricketts' Glen State Park and hike the Falls Trail. Optimally w/ my GF in attendance. Beautiful place up there, and it really lets you forget life for a while and just enjoy what you're doing and where you are...

The world has been going down the toilet since the beginning of time. Every generation as it ages bemoans the up and coming generation.

Do some things suck? Sure. However, take comfort in those closest to you.....and always remember, no matter how bad you got it, some other poor **** has it worse.

It's Americana men. We always strive for the younger generation to do better. I think where we are slipping is that we are getting lazy. Words like "honor" "integrity" "honesty" don't mean a whole lot anymore, but I fiqure, what the hell, if that's the way somebody wants to live---have at it, enjoy you're misery.

As long as I can wake up every morning and look myself in the eyes with a clear conscience, I'm doing the best that I can. Miserable people lead miserable lives, all along thinking that the world is against them somehow---they never realize it's just their own attitudes that bury them in grief.

There are 2 ways you can handle every situation in your life:

    1. Find blame
    2. OR learn from the experience

One is a dead end, the other a path to making things work.

Well we can all say its worse somewhere else, until you walk in thier shoes.. I feel for ya man, I got some things in my life going on that make me feel that way.. and i don't think "I wonder who has it worse" Not that i don't care.. But my wife's health problems are on my mind every day. and now with my recent unknown problems, I think life sucks now as well.. But my kids and wife keep me looking up best i can. There is no magic answer to depression or looking for people who have it worse than yourself, because sometimes "you think" this is the worst in "your" life.. keep pushing man

As one that has to deal with depression on a daily basis, I have to agree with this statement, wholeheartedly. I've tried all the "so-called" miracle anti-depressants, and have yet to find one that works for me. So I deal with my depression as well as I can. I use my wife, kids and audio hobby to deal with life's daily traumas. I focus on "not focusing" on the negative aspects of my personal situations that life deals to me and mine. If I didn't do just that or lose focus, I fall into deep depression mode, which does absolutely noone any good. I'm just thankful that I'm not bi-polar(manic), because that disease can be debilitating, and sometimes the affected person can become violent, when off their meds.

Human spirit is a powerful thing and shouldn't be taken for granted.
