Darwinism is a big fan of donercycles.

LMAO! Never heard the term "donercycle" before!

Not to change the subject, but about 18 years ago a friend of mine witnessed a cycle accident (actually the result of it) while driving on a dirt road at night. Apparently, this nut on his cycle flys by him at what my friend estimated was well over 90 mph (yes, on a dirt road - you know, the kind with BIG TREES on both sides?) - see where I'm going with this? So he sees the guy disappear in front of him, only to catch up with him about 2 miles up the road when he noticed his cycle in the ditch. No other cars around. My friend stopped, took out a flashlight and looked around for the guy and found him face down in the ditch as well - the problem was, he was severed from the waist down, his legs were some yardage down the road. Amazing what can happen when you're travelling that fast on a cycle, lose control and hit a tree - at least that is what my friend thought had happened.

Mac, what engine's in your rig? And how much torque does it make? Do you have two different rear-end ratios? Or do you just have 13 gears in the tranny? What is your rear-end ratio?

Cummins 450 hp. Im not sure of the torque but its probably around 1300-1500 like most are.

13 speed tranny in the cab. 5 low range and 8 high range. This is my personaly favorite tranny.

Dont know the rear end ratio. I just drive em. :D

Actually we're not running those anymore. They went with a smaller International model cause theyre cheap ****!. Theyre lighter duty with only a 7 speed and 200 hp engine.

This is the one I used to drive.

Why do you say he's talking about the engine? The last thing he mentions is the rear-end. Then before that it's the tranny. So I don't think it's the engine. We'll see.

Sorry I miss quoted also, he referring to the cab / truck maker. So the Engine & Trans changed from 450hp / 13 speed to 200hp / 7 speed, but it doesn't make your hotrod run so don't worry about it. And all his HP is made under 2300rpm or so.

Good thing tho is it helps to keep you from getting tickets which are expensive as hell for a CDL!

90% of trucks? I guess then the remaining 10% is the one that always travel the same days/time I travel....

Yep. I'm sure he redlines at around 3000-3500 or so. All his torque is probably made from as early as 800-900 rpm to 1800rpm or so. Just kinda guessing here. But, diesels are truly amazing.

I doubt it revs even that high my thinking is around 2300 / 2400 maybe 2500 but it's power is much lower so you don't what to push it that hard before shifting.

I`ve been riding for 30+ years, and though I have seen and been around **** riders, some of which have almost caused me and the people I was riding with to almost crash...

wishing them to die is a childish , ignorant reply...

we just rolled up on them at the next stop, stomped a mudhole in their **** , and usually called for a truck to pick up the new bike they just gladly signed over...!!

some people are too stupid to ride
some people are almost to stupid to breathe

but wishing death to an ignorant driver is ....well...ignorant..

A few weeks ago I was riding on a 2 lane highway, doing about 60mph. Cars in both lanes each about a car length away from each other, side by side. So we have been in this formation for about 10 minutes and I hear this loud sound. Before I can even figure out what it is a crotch rocket screams by. He is traveling down the center of the highway easily twice as fast as I am. Possibly 140 mph. I watch as his handlebars come within inches of the mirrors on both sides of him.

If this moron had crashed the bike could have easily gone through a back or side window of any car ahead.

Although I would not want to see it happen in the back of my mind I felt that he deserved whatever he got. The people around him deserved some consideration on his part but got none.

At least he got by with it that time but I would assume he won't be riding for much longer. What a freakin creep.

About 6 years ago (hard to believe it was that long ago now) on the day of my wifes baby shower for our first child (she was 7-8 months pregnent at the time) I had a motorcycle accident that was pretty major. I am sure it was my own fault. (target fixation on a deer - missed deer - road turned - I didn't)

I was moving pretty good. (faster than I should have been for conditions -clear night, farm road) I was airborn for 400 feet. A football field and a third endzone to endzone in a horizontal flight - think about that one. The bike chased me end over end for 150 feet.

I had on a full complement of safety equipment that ended up saving my life but I still suffered a some injuries and was in a wheelchair for a couple of months)

    Dislocated left knee
    Dislocated right shoulder
    Broken right wrist
    Bruised right lung
    Bruised aorta

I was able to head home after a 4 day hospital stay. I am not quite back to 100% but close enough to not **** about things. I certainly learned my lesson and am glad that DisneyJoe did not get his wish and I had died that night. I would not have wanted to miss out on raising my daughter let alone leave her to manage it by herself.

People drive stupidly in almost any vehicle. Motorcycles are just less forgiving than most. I hope we can all learn the lessons neccesary (reguardless of your choice of transportation) with the lowest cost in bodily harm possible.

I have been riding for over 20 years now and have seen my share of accidents.
I was thrown over the hood of a car when the little girl with her learning permit did not look left while she was turning left. Not my fault but I was still stuck flying through the air and had to rebuild my totaled Sporster.
I believe most people push their vehicles at some point or another.
If you get a new car you want to see the top speed or how well it handles in a corner.
If it is a new bike you want to do the same. People like to push the limit and some times the limit pushes back.
I allways feel for the person who crashes wether it is on their bike or in a car.

What no one here has mentioned is what about the poor person that was crashed into. They had no say in this and they still have to get out of their vehicle to deal with a battered rider possibly dying on their trunk or in their back seat.

That sucks and is the only reason I would be mad at this idiot for not paying attention when he should have. If he wants to push the envelope of his machine that is his right to do so. If he gets hurt then that is the price you pay when you play, also his right. When you hurt someone else who had no say in the situation, that's wrong.

I was talking about my company no longer runs the big tractors, we're now running a lighter duty tractor.

HTRookie - Everybody says that but ALL company trucks are goverened at 65 or less. Swift is the slowest, goverened at 55-60. Owner operators dont govern theirs so these are the guys that are running you off the road.

Next time your out on the freeway, take note of all the trucks in the slow lane chugging along at 65 MPH and the ones hauling ****. The slow ones will outnumber the fast ones by a big margin. Most people think all truckers fly but its only because they dont notice the 5000 that they are passing like theyre sitting still. They only notice the one that tries to run them off the road. ;)
