Just Saw a BAAAAAD Accident

Man. I just went out for a ride with two friends of mine on our motorcycles. I live just north of Boston. We were coming back from a ride on teh South Shore, coming up through the new tunnel under Boston. Just as we were going into the tunnel, I was going about 40MPH, and traffic was slowing in front of me. I was in the right lane, the middle lane was STOPPED, left lane barely moving. All the sudden this yellow bike flies by me (I was going 40, so he had to be doing about 80) in the middle lane (the one with stopped traffic 50 ft ahead). He obviously saw too late, jammed on his brakes, his bike ENDOS (rear end comes up), FLIPS FORWARD nad throws the kid and bike, top first, into the car in front of him. It happened literally RIGHT NEXT TO ME. I can't belive I didn't get hit with shrapnel. I couldn't even stop because traffic was still coming behind me, and there's not really much space to pull over in that tunnel.
Scariest **** I ever saw.
Scariest **** I ever saw.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Sorry you saw that in right in front of you.
But I don't feel bad about that, too many young stupid drivers out there and some get what they deserve.

It's the reckless actions of squids that makes the rest of us pay so much for bike insurance.
I also hope the guy makes out ok. -

Aw no lie, the dude was riding like a moron. His own damned fault.
Still not fun to see someone most likely die right next to you. If he survived I will be amazed. He went thru the back of a car at 60+MPH wiht a bike landing on top of him.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
Hey Bob,
To tell you the truth got my Motorcycle License many years ago back in Rhode Island. The motorcycle classes need then talked and talked about the 12 second look down the road thing. If they still teach this then where was this Idiot?

They can teach all they want, doesn't mean people listen. I had an idiot crash a bike DURING my motorcycle test in NH. The guy was like 30 years old, had a brand new bike, and crashed it trying to come to a quick stop from 20MPH. If he had been lucky, he would passed the test, and then probably crashed a week later when the situation came up in real life.
You can go out and buy a GSXR1000 fresh out of one motorcycle class, which might as well be a race bike. It pretty much IS a race bike. 180MPH without blinkin an eye. You're always gonna get idiots crashin em.
The most reckless thing I do is ride with shorts on. It's way too easy to get yourself killed just riding normal and safely, let alone riding like an idiot. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
Well in Rhode Island they provided the bike a small motorcycle maybe 175cc or so, again that was years ago maybe 1986 so things maybe different now.

I ride a sportbike and I agree with all of you.I hate being put in the same catagory with these idiots, sometimes I think about getting a cruiser,so I wont be,its ashamed, sportbikes are lots of fun especially in the mountain roads...they can be ridden the speed limit and enjoyed just as much...I do it all the time.I wish the insurance companies would not insure a person on a sportbike under the age of 30,that would help...a little anyway.

1) What a nice guy. The death sentance for being careless? I've seen where sex offenders of the worst kind and drunk drivers with multiple convictions and accidents get off lighter.
2)From this statement of your world of experience in motorcycling somehow qualifies your above statement?
I've own bikes and have owned them and been riding on the streets sense I was a teenager and I'll turn 50 real soon. I was riding dirt long before that. I've seen quite a few bike accidents and have been down a few times on the pavement myself. It's no fun, always hurts and not always the pilot's fault. The guy was being irresponsible so I will not condone his actions and I will blame him and others like him for the high cost of bike insurance but I'm certainly not going to wish him to be any worse off than he probably already is. If he lives and can lead a normal life and continues to ride he will more than likely ride quite differently in the future. If he has met his fate, I see it as a terrible waste of a human life and the ultimate harsh lesson. One he wouldn't have the chance to learn by. -
I can drive any straight body truck over 26000 pounds do you think I should drive like an IDIOT and take out you with 12 of your closest friends?
I was at one time going for a pilots license would that give my the right to fly so fast that the wings would break off, Killing all of us and maybe 25 of your closest friends?

WHAT?
I'm not quite sure how you come up with the above scenarios and attempt to equate them to a rider on a relatively light weight machine. (Certainly compared to any of your above machines.) I've yet to see any bike win an argument with even a small compact car say nothing of causing the massive death and distruction you somehow envision. Lets keep things in perspective.
If Bob had witnessed a person driving a larger vehicle causing great damage and death to others I would have no sympathy for them what so ever.
One of the things you may have learned about bikes is that they're "usually" capable of killing only the rider with or without contact with other vehicles. And if you know the statistics, more often that not it's another vehicle that intrudes on the bike's space. -
So Bob,
It's ok to ride like an **** just because it's a lightweight, so he or she would must likely just Fup him or her self. So with this analogy he or she should ride / drive like he or she wants.
Does this analogy work for me also in a Honda Accord vs. a Hummer. I should be able to drive like an Idiot because I would do less damage then a Hummer could. What a F'ing crock.

"I hope he died." for riding like an **** does seem a bit extreme...

I think Bob was just trying to say, a man's stupidity aside, He has issues wishing death upon any motorcyclists (even reckless assclowns like the one Bobman saw). Arguments aside, it is an unfortunate truth. Fact is, ride a bike like an ****, and you will most likely get killed, whether DisneyJoe wishes for it or not.
I volunteer on my town ambulance, And i get on average one crotch rocket rider killed in a spectacular fassion per year (average). Usually broken neck/instant death. I've had them not so lucky either.Living Room 2 Channel -

I hate auto accidents.
I saw one last august that pretty much changed my outlook on life.
Kid in a ford probe was picking up his sister's friends for school... on their way back into town a grain truck pulled out in front of them at a intersection.
Ripped the top off the probe, killed the young man... his sister ducked down but he couldn't cause the airbag pinned him.
I came up on it 2 minutes after it happend... other people waved me on... I'm glad because I couldn't take it. Once I found out the whole story I knew I really saw what I saw... the boys face//head was pretty much wasted and he survived for awhile...
I didn't know the boy but I heard he was a really good kid. I haven't gone back down that road since it happend.
auto accidents really suck... whether it's stupidity or pure accident.cats.vans.bag... -
Thats a big reason why I took the "life membership" option from my ambulance squad. In short, it means I dont have to ride every week anymore. Its like semi retirement. It really was starting to add up, and had some stuff to clear up in my life as well. nothing Dr Phil worthy, but I had to reduce some of the stressors in my life, and that was a big one. Not to say I didnt enjoy it, or that I wont return to it ever, who knows?Living Room 2 Channel -

Quote [It's ok to ride like an **** ]
Are you for real??
Where or when have I condoned his actions ??? Show me!
I basically said I didn't wish to think of him getting killed by his actions. You on the other hand seem to be wishing he DOES die! "I" find that to be ineffencredible!! I'm also going to gather you don't ride nor do any members of your family. Otherwise it could just as easily be a nephew or cousin or son of yours just for examples.
You state the fact you have a cycle license like it's a badge that's supposed to clear you of being capable of harboring any anti-motorcycle sentiment because if you got that you've just got to be a member of the motorcycling fraternity. Right? I don't buy into it for a minute. It's strange you don't sound in the slightest like anyone the least bit bike conscious. In fact just the exact opposite. And believe me I've talked to and riden with plenty of cyclists in my lifetime. Got the license yes. Actually a motorcyclist? I can't see it.
Forget it, I've got you read like a wide open book. -

I know this is a sensitive topic, so I'll offer this but once: You are responsible for yourself. The beauty of the USA is our freedom, and all of us make choices based on our own personal values and beliefs. We all have opinions and not everyone will agree with them, but sometimes people have to learn the hard way. This person learned the hard way.
An accident, which is a misnomer, is actually a collision. Someone had to do something stupid for a collision to occur, and unfortunately, sometimes it involves other vehicles or people. No matter how capable the vehicle, it cannot exceed the laws of physics. Some folks like to see how close their vehicle can get to the edge of performance and many do for many an instance but its that one time that they exceed that edge that makes the news. In bobman1235s case, he became a witness.
I heard some advice recently that Ive taken to heart, Drive as if everyone on the road is an idiot. It works, because some of them are. -
BobMcG wrote:

Only God has that right, so if this is his last day then God has chosen that.
Sorry no I didn't wish him to die, I do wish him not to be able to be 100%.
Isn't this your wish with I hope this guy makes out ok?

Darwinism is a big fan of donercycles. I stay away from em'..too many chances for luck to not be on your side. I skateboarded for a decade and lost enough skin.
Whether or not he deserved it, it still sucks for him and his family.
Some people just don't know when to quit. Totally non-related, but an example of when people should just lay off. My buddy of several years, was trying to be "hardcore yo" and kept telling this guy, with lots of people to witness, he wasn't going to do anything *fight wise* even though the guy was holding a large knife. Apparently he told him that too many times....
The guy rared back, using a good strong, waist level thrust..and literally stabbed my buddy all the **** way through his body. Not a laceration, not a puncture..he pierced him. Lacerating his colon and all. I haven't spoken to him since it happened but I think crappin' in a bag might have taught him a lesson. I hope so anyway. Knowing him, since he lived through it, he's taking it as being "more hardcore yo". Some people..some people....Two Channel Main

Man. I sincerely hope disneyjoe7 is drunk as a skunk. I can't believe 1) someone could wish death on another person just because he drove recklessly on a bike. Sure, that certainly makes death likely - but wish for it? Come on. 2) You have totally twisted BobMcG's arguments. He has never condoned any kind of reckless driving; quite the opposite, he has specifically said multiple times that he doesn't. 3) Your arguments and analogies make absolutely no sense.
To change the situation a little bit, but using the same principle: 'Man disneyjoe7 wishes death on every reckless driver; I sure hope someone swipes the code off his ATM card and grabs all his money. What? They only got $700? Well, phooey.'
Does that make any sense? No, it doesn't. And nor does your wishing for a reckless driver's death.
Mac, what engine's in your rig? And how much torque does it make? Do you have two different rear-end ratios? Or do you just have 13 gears in the tranny? What is your rear-end ratio?George Grand wrote: »
