Threatening to do something is a different thing than going to war. What do they have to gain in war? Nothing compared to what they have to lose. Make more money, that is more effective way of gaining control in todays world.

Im sure you can point to several wonderful things other countries have contributed to the world. All Im saying is that we're responsible for the majority of them directly and most of the rest indirectly.

We've only been around 200 years so obviously we're not able to take credit for everything good thats ever come down the pike like the wheel or telescope or a bunch of others. But in the last 100 years, since we've gotten rolling youd be hard pressed to come up with too many inovations that didnt come from here. The world's techonolgy has increased more in the last 100 years than throughout history combined. The US has been up and running at a good clip for about 100 years. Coincidence? I think not.

And youre right, a lot of the scientist come from other countries, which kind of goes back to another point I tried to make that race has absolutely nothing to do with us being on top. Its our freedom first and foremost that makes us great followed by our capitalistic and free market economic system and goverened by a representative republic. Thats why we're on top. And because of those things, this country has developed into a place that the top minds want to come because its the best place to work and live. We have the best technology here. We have the best places to work and develop here. We have the most companies intrested in investing in development here. And we have the freedom to do as you please. Thats why the US is great. (plus we've got the hottest chicks here too! )

Now if more and more countries adopt this system they too will be a great place to economic and technological growth but until they do they take a back seat to us. England is on the right track but right now theyre too socialist to let the free market really flourish.

I thought it was pretty self explanatory. The US is responible for the life expectancy increasing by decades. The best hospitals, doctors, scientists, technology and breakthrus are in the US. However it sure doesnt look anything like me saying the US is responsible for everything good in the world.

And if you bother to read a few lines more youll notice another statement which is I NEVER SAID NOR DO I THINK THE REST OF THE WORLD IS USELESS AND CONTRIBUTES NOTHING.

some of the worst wars in world history were started by **** with a chip on thier shoulder and something to prove. never underestimate any threat. this has happened recently to the U.S. and history tends to repeat itself.China backed down from the Korean war because they were poor. who knows what they would do if they have enough money where they feel they could go the distance in a major conflict with us or anyone else. sending U.S. dollars to China is counterproductive to the U.S. economy and security and its a bad idea period. thanks..........WCW III

True but unlike other wars, this time theyve got a couple nukes, whoopee. Most cant even reach the US. On the other hand we've got about 1000. So they could wipe out one or two of our cities. We could make the Chinese race extinct! Thas a pretty heavy deterrant.

If you look back it does look like that. USA is a part of the big picture, not the big picture as you see it. There are plenty of big breaks done in the rest of the world to completely ignore them as your posts previously did. That is nothing to take away from USA as they have done more than their share but your posts really did undermine the importance of the others. There is nothing the rest of the world would not have discovered if USA didn't exists, just like there is nothing the world would not have discovered if f.e. Poland didn't exist.

I agree that Communist / Fascist countries are usually defeated in the end (save our little friend Cuba, which is basically defeated but still kicking around in "lingering to its death" mode). However, it is not their ultimate fate, but rather the damage they inflict along the way that is troublesome and something that I fear.

I do not doubt, for one moment, the ability of (and I say this in the most loving way possible) Redneck nations and Prideful nations (again, I do truly mean that in a good way) such as the US, Britain, and some of the smaller but none the less important (every bit helps) nations to win out over the proverbial bad guys... it's just that a whole lot of people end up dying during all of it, and that's not cool.
