duh...
i absolutely love 'Stricken', i can't wait till the CD comes out, i've been a big Disturbed fan for ages...
you know how the first CD sounds really young and harsh, while the second one sounds much mellower and deeper and more mature (all relative to the first, obviously)? how do you suppose the third will come out? It's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon
"Its not good enough until we have real-time fearmongering. I want my fear mongered as it happens." - Shizelbs -
Im actually kind of hoping the 3rd one goes back to the roots man...
Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly worked out the 2nd CD, but I can't sit through it anymore...
Where as, Down With The Sickness, Dropping Plates, Shout 2000, Voices, Stupify are pretty much timeless and - except DWTS, its good until he goes on about his Mom and what not.
The 2nd one has Prayer - which got old... Awaken, Intoxication, Bound were all ok, good - but nothing like the first one.
I dont know, the 1st one just seemed like they were more into it a little bit...
The song Stricken seems to be going with the more mature sound, but with the enthusiam of the older album...
This other song on their Media Player, Guarded seems to have some potential - seems to be going on a slower approach...
I'm hoping for a mix - lil of the old, lil of the new, etc- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I hope they get back to the Sickness days. They went the way of Staind, as far as going all mellow....WTF? Bring back some new Slayer, Testament, Megadeth.....Metal at its finest...........JMO
-
i hear ya, the energy of the old with some of the spirit of the new would be cool...
and the dwts lyrics? he actually did that screamy-hating-mommy bit in concert, which i was fairly surprised at...
any idea why it took em so long to get a third album out? It's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon

Staind was so awesome, their newer stuff sounds the same through out. It is ALMOST hard to believe it is the same band that wrote "Can't Believe" which is just 2-3 minutes of screaming! haha...
But, I agree... give us what made the 1st CD bring fear into children!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Neo,
The 2nd album didn't do to good, they took a pretty nice hit to the wallet from what I remember hearing. So I hope now that reality hit them in the face they will do this new album up right...
Can't wait!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Maybe they are going Metallica on us Perhaps they have been working on a Day in the Life of Disturbed DVD. I was turned off by Some Kind of Monster. I still enjoy Metallica, for their musical/lyrical "genious" but I don't want to watch a band come apart before my eyes. Same goes for Ozzy and his reality crap. -
I have never been a Metallica fan except for their S&M material...
Dropping Plates is a great song, you ever played the 1st CD, just REALLY loud? I mean like 105-110db (mids/highs) loud. You can't do that stuff with the 2nd CD, not near as forceful and involving...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
OUSTSTANDING! I love Disturbed. Probably the only band in the mainstream with highly skilled musicians. Especially the drummer. Imagine, a guitar that can play a solo and harmonics and a drummer that uses double bass in this day and age! Love it!
I loved The Sickness but Believe was unreal! That CD stayed in my stereo for over a month straight! Theres only been a couple albums Ive liked that much. Breathe is also the only song in a while I just kept repeating over and over again.

"Disturbed is back! "
...and they still suck.
Metallica? Don't care much for anything after Garage Days. A couple of tracks have gotten my attention, but the whole Napster episode left a really bad taste in my mouth.
That being said, Kill 'em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets are the three albums that are the BLUEPRINT of how 'metal' is done, and are what all others should be judged by.

Newsted is effin' badass. I played bass for 10+years (sold the gear last year, about to get another half stack and Ibenez), and Jason could hang with the best of them. Flotsam and Jetsam baby. I agreed Cliff was 'heart and soul' Metallica, but Jason was the man, period. Too bad the other band members treated him like a Freshman. I mean, come on, Metallica can recognize talent, they turned down Les Claypool when he auditioned because they said he was TOO good.
The mixing is all tricked up now, it works for some tracks, not for most. That's all I have to say about that.

Without a doubt, Newsted can flat out play, I was actually referring to the others not being the same after Cliff. They did treat him like a kid and I always thought they took Cliff's death out on Jason.
In an interview, Newsted said he left the band because he loves to play and couldn't while Metallica kept taking breaks...during which he wasn't allowed to play with another band. Plus, don't know of it's totally true, but I heard he wasn't too happy with the direction of the band as far as music. Maybe Metallica was getting too soft for him, or something like that.Receiver: harmankardon AVR235

I'm not a Disturbed fan, but every couple of weeks David Dramen (sp?) will call in to the morning show I listen to (94.7 The Zone) and he seems like a pretty cool guy. They are from Chicago and still live here so they're around a lot."I got into the music business thinking it was really radical, that it wasn't really a business at all, that it was a lot of people being artistic and creative. Not true, and it made me very depressed."

Metallica dies after the Black Album. That one was decent but everything after is just horrible. The lastest one is the worst of them all. Not only does Hetfield sound like **** but Lars' drums sound like trash can lids!
I mistakenly watched "Some Kind Of Monster" when it was on VH1 a while back and completely lost what little respect I had left for them. And dont even get me started on that little twerp and the Napster thing! They should just retire before they disgrace themselves further.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Same here...and like you said, St. Anger sounds like $hit: Lars' coffee can drums.., hetfield sounds like he has a sore throat, and no guitar solos..
Would you believe Lars thought about becoming a tennis player before he met james???
Out of all the members, I think hammet has actually improved and plays some damn good guitar. I read that he actually played with Joe Satriani for some time and learned a lot.Receiver: harmankardon AVR235

Dude, I was a hardcore headbanger back in the 80's with the long hair and everything. I play the drums so Lars was my idol. Back then we ate, breathed and slept heavy metal and we knew everything about all these bands. Ahhh, those were the days.
According to that horrible, whiney documentary, Hammet wanted to play guitar solos but the anti-Christ, Bob Rock talked him out of it. Wouldnt want to not be "in style now". God I hate this ****!polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

bob rock also made the first slipknot album, he decided to destroy it, it was supposed to have solos and not be so... whatever it was. Bob Rock should change his name to Bob Jerkface, because he certainly does not "rock"Picking ones nose signifies a strong sense of self discovery

I just got this CD today...
I just started playing it...
but this has the making for the best Disturbed CD yet, if not - one of the best Metal/Rock CDs I have heard. It just has that pace. I'll report back after I get more listening in - but so far...very nice.
Disturbed has matured quite a bit.
BTW - It is called 10,000 Fists for a reason.
This is a fight CD. Period.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Alright... I just got through listening to it all the way through.
Let me start off by saying that since I first heard about the new Disturbed CD a while back, I was extremely pumped. I couldnt wait. Infact, I held extremely high expectations for this CD.
Let me just say that this CD did not fail those expectations, but surpassed them - by yards.
Disturbed showed how diverse they could be - they took their style and rolled it into rock. The lead singer is really a singer, exercising his vocals for alot less screaming. To some, this may be a dissapointment - but I really enjoyed it. Mainly because they cut back in with just absolute amazing guitar rifts and double bass.
Infact, I don't think one song dosnt feature some type of guitar solo. The guitar solos are just great, I love it.
Disturbed forgot NO ONE. They paid several homages to their first and second CD. They even paid a homage to OLD ROCK. This was one of the best songs on the CD, yall have to find it for yourself!
But seriously, this CD is extremely fast paced, continuous heavy guitar rifts, excellent solos...
Just to give you the idea of how much double bass is in this CD, the last song is 3 minutes of pure double bass. Your chest just moves in and out for 3 minutes, just awesome. However the CD is pretty much about the war in Iraq, in fact in one song they even play a clip of George Bush's speech and various other things. Hence 10,000 fists.
I am very impressed, this CD will not be leaving the player for a while. There was not one bad song I could find. Disturbed has ventured into yet another area and I hope old and new fans will like it, because I thoroughly enjoyed the calmer, yet completely fast paced CD.
My only complaint is the sound quality, the high end is very harsh and in your face. But this is a rare case, and just to show how much I enjoyed this CD - I can overlook the soundquality. Tommorow this will be turned up, loud - very loud. For the entire hour this CD consists of.
Well worth the money, impressed I am.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Excellent. I will pick this up tomarrow. It's so cool they released yet another cd. I even have the DVD audio version of Beleive which was very cool . It had the Prayer video on it as well as some live concert and behind the scenes cool ****.
Nice.
I'm also a 80's heavy metal Guitar player. I started playing when I was 9. I miss being that into music. I lived it. Long hair , bands , playing out, battle of the bands, what a time.
Disturbed is the best heavy band today in my opnion. They have killer licks and the singer is very good.
DanDan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
Yeah... this CD blows Believed out of the water, IMO. It is right up there with the first one.
The Prayers video got banned, it was playing around 9/11 - and with the buildings falling in it, its playing on TV was ceased soon after.
But this is a much different Disturbed...
I couldnt picture you with long hair, the only one I have seen of you is in a Kong Fu stance about to kill someone...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
