I always got a chuckle out of that scene in The Mask where the dude pulls up to Jim Carry and starts blaring his horn so Jim takes out his trusty little horn and gives in kind!polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

The folks on this ABC forum regarding this segment are pretty hot (upset), and some very misinformed. I read a little and just laughed. I do agree that it is not cool to blast it going down the neighborhood at 1AM. Just not with them classifying everyone with a system as some punk who wants attention. Besides how loud can my little ten go .

... "Boomers are typically lower-middle class men in their teens and twenties with some disposable income. They assume that their car will attract women and improve their social standing among their peers. "
BWAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!! hilarious.
They evey attack FACTORY SYSTEMS...
"Ford Motor Company Installs Boom Equipment
Ford Motor Company offers a 1,000 watt sound system in its new model 2005 Mustang. "
They go on to knock SEMA of all things! who the hell knocks SEMA ?!!!?!!!!!? ****.
quote...
"We presume this sexist ad by MA Audio is meant to appeal to horny young men who think they will attract a woman with a boom car. There is a name for vehicles built for this purpose: masturbation-fueled car. Example: "Check out the tool in the masturbation-fueled car"."
... hmm - the girl in that MA audio ad is really hot - maybe i should just spend the money i was going to spend on amps and instead hire her to sleep with me.
look i avoided booming! and, instead, i boomed her!The Artist formerly known as PoweredByDodge -

i already wrote them a 3 page email about stereotyping and how that takes us back to the days of the "3/5th's vote" and their lopsided view of reality being something that can be taken as both liable and slander. they wrote me back with a quick blurb that stated, "we cannot respond to your letter as our legal advisement has told us it would be imprudent. if you would like to pursue this further, please contact them." - yet they never provided info to contact said legal advisement.

We should all make it a point to write them a little something. I believe that their view is very skewed, and one sided. The whole boom car thing just shows their total ignorance on this subject.
There are some guys at work that kind of think this way. When I tell them what I have they are like "really". I then take them to may car, tell them to sit in the driver's side, as I had my time alignment settings this way (I now have the passenger's setting in memory ). All they can say is wow, it is so clear. This was back when I had a little over 1000 watts RMS in my system. They could not understand why with all of that power (I know 1 Kilowatt RMS may not be huge, but to these guys it is) why it was not boomy and rattling like crazy (I told them about Dynamat). A little over 300 for the components and a little over 700 for the sub. I usually let them hear a variety of music from classic rock to rap. One of my favorites is this one from a group from South America (Andes Mountain Folk Music), the album is called Sanjuanitos . It is all instrumental. It has a lot of different instruments playing and you can really hear them at different locations on top of the dash. I also throw in some stuff with heavy bass, to show them that it can hit a little, but still sound clean doing it.
One of the guys is really into home audio. He never thought that you could get the sound I have in my car in a vehicle. I told him mine is not the best, but it keeps me happy .Alpine: CDA-7949

its all about making it an art.
some artists may be into traditional "true sound", some may be into more abstract sound, others into accentuated highs or lows... and that's all fine... so long as it's the art of car audio and not some garbage jacked up system with two 15" volvenhagen "2000 wrms" subs and a Pyle amp rattling down the road.
i have to dynamat my door skin inners, they're driving me nuts - rattling like hell now since i put in the billet door locks. the old locks had a little foamy thingy on there that kept them quiet, the new assmebly is just metal so it shakes with the midbasses in the doors. can't hear it outside (the music) but you do hear a "tick tick tick tick", sounds like i have metal eating crickets in my doors. The Artist formerly known as PoweredByDodge -
Once in a while I get these little annoying sounds coming from the back of the car. Then it just hits me, check inside the door handles. My little ones tend to forget their small toy, marbles, candy, and a few other little things in there . It always cracks me up when I look for the sound and then it hits me. I just tell myself, next time check the doors first.Alpine: CDA-7949
