Sonus Faber, ****.
That's 'Hand Made Sound' in Italian for those that don't know.
MMMMM Good. Nothing like a reference monitor, BOLTED to the matching factory stands (wood finish, copper rivets and all). Model Concerto, 7" woof, 1" sweet clean silky dome.
The bad news - sold the Spendor 1/2's
The good news - sold the Spendor 1/2's to Paul (pjdami)
Be you. Be me. Be you wanting to be me.
Cheers,
Russ

From what I was taught, it's not leather, but so closely resembling leather..customs considers it leather. Take it with a grain as I did. Those are awesome speakers. I've listened to them a bunch..paired up with B&W 2 channel seperates. They have clarity, depth, and sounstage that is to die for. Heavy suckers too. Hand tuned and no joke. Two Channel Main

They were closing out the smaller version, Cocertino I believe for $600-$700, if you saw THESE for that price, you should have jumped. Easy flip, easy money in your pocket. The stands alone go for $450. (I paid $58)
It's like leather, yeah LS, I hear what you are saying.
Jesse, roger that. It'll be at least 90 days or so before I come to any conclusions.

Congrats on the Concertos. Those are some of my favorite speakers for two-channel. We have a couple set up at my work and I'll go in and listen from time to time. They truly are superb speakers.
If you would really like them to sound their best, I would recommend a unit from Primare. The I30 integrated amplifier would be a top choice to run those. You can look up the info here.
We are using the previous model called A30.1, which is basically the same. You may be able to find a floor model of one of those too. They go for around $1500 on clearance. These units do not have subwoofer outs, so you would probably have to use a sub w/ Speak-On like a REL if you wanted to add a sub.Current System:

Russ,
You and I are like SF buddies!
Are the stands a necessity?
I dont have stands with mine - atleast not the bolt down stands.. am I losing some sonic advantage by not using the SF stands?Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -
I don't think you are loosing anything. The match up nice (obviously), and are heavy, and well built. Personally, I think I would like them a little bit lower (shorter).
I hope to get some stuff moved around here tonight, and get them semi-setup.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
What gear are you planning to use with them??

Great looking speaker with the matching stands.
My only negative observation:
I personally don't understand why high end speaker companies put protective tweeter grids on their soft domes tweets. It seems that anyone buying them would be well heeled enough to not require them. They aren't part of the acoustical qualities are they?HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

It's actually referred to as a 'phase shield'. I don't know enough about speaker design, but I believe it has to do with the curvature of the dome, and the timing differences of sound due to the depth of the half-sphere.
As far as electronics, I've got Dodd building me a custom preamp, and that's it so far. I'll probably bag one of the high end Marantz CDP's, and I've got my eye on a pair of highly-modded Eico HF50 tube monoblocks.

Tube monoblocks.. yummm..
For me, I'm looking to go from my Headamp GS-1 as my discreet Class A based Preamp to my Rotel RB1070 then to the Concertos.
I had the Concertinos in my room, but I definitely missed some lower end action.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -
