I'm taking a little break from a Deadwood marathon. This is first time I've ever seen the show. My parents have it on tivo. So far, it's freakin killer.

Must go back now and watch #4 of 1st season

No HBO at the house. It was hard enough for me to convince the wife to keep Showtime, so I could watch "Huff", which is another great series, btw.

I ended my session last night after Hickock got seperated from some brain matter. Will continue them this evening :D

I never liked it that much. Too depressing for me. Kinda like the shield. I didnt get to watch much of them tho. I only subscribe to HBO when the Sopranos are on.

Anyone on Season #3? Seen Trixie this week, showing off "everything" as she shot....?

I don't want to give away too much, since some might be in suspense for the DVD release.

I hear season 4 has been dropped. HBO has Milch on other projects and they have released the crew from their contracts.
I agree, one of the best series ever on HBO. I never missed an episoide.

They're supposed to do a couple of HBO movies from what I've been hearing. Next week's episode is the season finale. The people that can't get over the cussing, are missing out on one of the best written series ever done. It's sheer poetry, with a twist. Shakespeare would be proud.

Ah f#%#, that sucks! Carnivale, Stargate, and now Deadwood. I thought Carnivale was one of the most original, intriguing series on TV. That gets cancelled. Then Deadwood struck gold again, pun intended, and now this.

Swearangen is one of the best characters ever (sp?). 'Swear' has to be in there somewhere ;)

    WTF.....

This is news to me. I'm a huge fan of this show, and it's so **** what HBO does to all of these shows. I know why, their operating expenses are too high. Deadwood is pretty popular, and hell they sell their DVDs for $80-$90...

David Milich was pissed when he was told they were cancelling after season 4 (which is the last I heard, until the posts here). He said he can't possibly conclude the show in that amount of time.

I was mad about Carnivale being cancelled as well, and Rome after 2 seasons, but those I could understand since they're less popular. I hope someone else can figure out how to get shows like these out there and finish them properly.

If any show should have been cancelled a long time ago it's Soprano's. That show jumped the shark after season 3. I loved it until then.

Interesting trivia fact, but Milich actually went to HBO with the idea of doing a Nero Age Roman show, but since they already were doing Rome it was morphed into Deadwood.

The language (styling) makes this show work -- not to mention that the acting is fantastic.

I would like to see Al have his revenge on Patty's great-grandfather before they close the doors. Feed a few digits or nuts to Woo's pigs.

Agreed. I still like season 1 the best.

I'm really thinking about cancelling HBO now. Short of Entourage, their current crop of shows isn't doing diddly for me.

Even though they take poetic license with some of the characters in Deadwood, most of them are real historical figures and George Hearst becomes a political bigwig a little later on in the future. So unless they want to go against history, blatantly, they really can't do too much to Hearst.

    Demi,

I hope you're right about there being a 4th season, cause I'm gonna be real pissed if they end it after this Sunday. Kinda like what NBC did with "Surface". They left us hanging BIG TIME at the end of "Surface", which I actually enjoyed a lot.

Noel, was it this coming Sunday episode as the last one?

I surely hope it will end with a major bang of Hearst's henchmen and Woo's troops to light up the town...

I'm pretty certain that this coming Sunday will be the season finale. I'll check and see to make sure.

They keep calling it the season final. The prop guy in the forum says he was told to put a hold on the shows rentals. Maybe we will see the 2 movies that bring closure.
I do have the book on Deadwood that Milch used for guidance so if all else fails I will read the way it supposed to end.

Yeah, I didn't dig into their website too deep, but it says:

"In honor of the Deadwood season finale receive amazing savings! 15% off Deadwood Seasons 1&2 DVD Set and free shipping when you spend $50. All offers valid through 9/1/06. Shop HBO today."

Can anyone link directly to where it says the show is over after season 3? Like I said before, I heard it was season 4 -- which is where the mention of Wyatt Earp comes in. I had heard about movies coming after season 4 due to it's cancellation. Then HBO would ressurect the series if the movies do well.

Well, watch the Finale last night. That's it, I guess. It was decent ending, but it felt rushed and uneventful, especially to end a 3 seasons run.

Now, I am looking forward to Rome Season 2.

psst, Entourage has a much more shocking ending.
