Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone can point me in a direction (or help) in getting the
best set up for the following config setup (or at least a good starting point)
for :
- Receiver Onkyo tx-sr601
- Sub PSW10
- F L/R Monitor 60
- Center CS2
- Surround Monitor 40
- Onkyo Sp401 DVD player
Do I set the front speakers to Large, and the Center and surrounds to small ?
and what would a good cross over rate be for the sub ?
or where can I get some good documentation in understanding all the technical jargon to try and set up a good config
what would be good DVD's or music CD's be to use in testing the setup ?
thanks

For a starting point use, all speakers to small and a crossover of 80hz, and calibrate your speaker levels. Then try higher and lower crossovers, your front speakers large and small, and compare.Win7 Media Center -> Onkyo TXSR702 -> Polk Rti70

Your Onk's manual goes over the recommended settings for speakers based upon their ability to handle bass Hz. In taking a quick look at your speakers I would set my fronts to large the others to small and start with the 80 hz crossover.
You will need to determine what sounds best to you.
As stated it is most important to calibrate your speakers using the Onk's mic or a Sound Pressure Level meter.
Have fun.

That is good advice. My 601 is at; front L/R and center set to "large." The rears and back surround set to "small." I have the CSi3, but over time I have realized that it does better on "large." The crossover is set at 80Hz as well. Hope this helps and welcome to the forum.Main Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus

Like others have said, it is very important to calibrate the output using an SPL meter.Receiver: harmankardon AVR235
