Man..

I just watched this movie (1980 with Anthony Hopkins). Such a sad story. makes you appreciate what you have. The things we take for granted.

I was just putting together a list of 'great movies you must see' for a friend of mine and this one is was at the top of my list (he watches something almost every day and never even heard of this one).

It's a fantastic film, and if you haven't seen it, you need to.

What makes me even more teary eyed is the fact the Michael Jackson has this guys bones sitting in his living room!

Don't remember where I heard it, but I know it's a fact (they showed it on some show). I think he paid $5 million for them.

He also has the original ET puppet and owns the Beatles music. (there is deffinetly something wrong with that man).

JOSEPH Merrick's bones are currently at the Royal London Hospital where he spent his last days. His name was incorrectly listed as John in early biographies and even carried forward to the movie. Jackson "attempted" to purchase the bones but was refused.

Really, I thought I remember seeing him with them (they were in a glass case with MJ standing next to them). Maybe it was when he was trying to buy them (I thought for sure I heard a few times and even the price).

But I know he has ET and the Beatles (right?).

He owns most of the rights to the Beatles catalog......and was the narrator on the E.T. story, (album)....maybe E.T. is disguised as the Chimp. And yes, he attempted to buy the bones as another member said.....but didn't pan out. I would love to have that kind of money to watch a movie and want to own part of it. HMMM let me think...I watched the first 10 minutes of Barb Wire:D

He does own 50% of the rights to a large part of the catalog....however that could soon change. Sony has an equal stake in the catalog along with Jackson as they are now partners. As I understand, Jackson's remaining interest has been pledged to Sony as collateral for a huge loan. Since it has been widely reported that Jackson is techinically bankrupt (liabilities > assets), Sony may soon own the entire collection. McCartney still owns the rights to several of the songs such as "Love Me Do", "Please Please Me", "P.S. I Love You", and "Ask Me Why". George Harrison's estate owns the rights of several of the songs also ("While My Guitar Gently Weaps" for one).

MJ owns part of the publishing rights to the Beatles catalog. The actual sound recordings by the Beatles belong to EMI; Sony doesn't own any of the Beatles recordings (otherwise they would've released them on SACD).

Yes you are correct..it is the publishing rights. And Sony is a 50% partner with Jackson in those publishing rights.

It's more of a list of things this guy hasn't seen that he should (especially since he watches a movie almost every day). Some of them he never even heard of (which I can't believe). But you haven't seen them, you must.

    The African Queen
    Flight of the Phoenix (original)
    A Clockwork Orange
    Starship Troopers
    Team America
Monty Python and the Holly Grail
The Day the Earth Stood Still

It's not a list of my favorites of all time, more of a list I was making for a friend of must see movies (that he hasn't seen). He never even heard of The Afican Queen, Flight of the Pheonix (until the remake came out), or Monty Python (not just a movie, never heard of Monty Python). Anyway, if you haven't seen these all, you should. I don't think there is one of them that is a "some like it, some don't" type of film (except Team America).
