Only 'issue' thus far is gain on the turntable, you've got to REALLY crank the volume to get it up to volume, long as I don't forget to turn it down before I switch sources, I'll be OK, I suppose.

You need a higher output cart, or a better phono stage. What cart are you running, and what's it's output?

It's an old Stanton cart....no idea what the output is.

A new cartridge is in the works but for NOW it's going to have to suffice. I've got an ortoforn super OM-10 around here somewhere, I'll prolly swap 'em out but for now, it'll do.

** now that I've engaged my brain; it's got to be the phono pre. I was just using the AR in the mancave up until a couple weeks ago....**

That NAD offers 30db gain, which isn't a whole lot if you have a low output MM cart.

I'll email you some higher gain phono pre options.

    Cheers,

Nice rack, Troy! It looks rather small and delicate, though I imagine that by design and construction it's quite stable.

    Nice!

Actually, there is a piece of leftover flooring underneath each spike.....

Actually, the build quality on the Salamander is so-so. A DIY flexy would be just as good, if not better.

    Nice RACK

Goddamn it! I waited like DAYS before clicking this thread, thinking, there's no way he's talking about chicks... It's gonna be an audio rack, I KNOW IT! But I couldn't stay away, I HAD TO GIVE IN.

    Damn it.

    I fell for it.

    That's just like me.

I think stanton carts are best suited to remain in the d.j. world as they are tops in that catagory, however you should get that ortofon in there and give it a whirl, you might just be surprised.

I have always liked the ortofon sound and found it to be a nice warm sounding cart, I had a pmount ( can't remember the model but I think it had the number 20 in it) in my technics linear tracking t.t. and I wish to this day that I still had that one.

If you do make the change I would love to hear what your findings are for the one that you have.

    Later,
    Mike

Yeah...thats what I mean, the newer stanton home carts are crap but in the d.j. realm they are still damn hard to beat. I heard a couple of recent trackmaster units at friends house and was very impressed.
