Flat screen TV's and placement of center channel speaker?

Ya know, I don't know if I'm missing something here, but where the hell do you put a center channel speaker (such as a CSi40) if you just purchased a brand spanking new flat screen TV, or any TV that has about 2" or less of flat "top space"?!

I mean, say you have the latest and greatest (and thinnest) display technology and no place for a center channel to go? Even with the "matching" TV stands there is typically not enough height space between shelves for a center channel speaker, so where do you put it? Worse yet, if you're only choice for your entertainment center is in the corner of the room, THEN what do you do? Is some form of wall-mounting the only way to go? Are there wall mounting "shelf kits" available for corner systems?

Wall mount / shelf - or on the floor, below (and usually angled up slightly) on a stand.

    I feel your pain.

I have the same problem with my system. My center channel is to big to fit inside my Salamander rack nice and my TV is one 3 inches deep on top. I looked at a few center channel wall mounts and haven't liked any of them. Building a custom shelf strong enough to hold the weight seems to be the way to go. In the corner will require some custom shelf building for the corner.

There are some nice tv stands that can hold the center along with all of your gear. I don't want to spend the money on a new cabnet as I only had mine for a few years and love it.

Salamander does however make a custom center channel add on for my stand but that would put my tv to high. It would go underneath it. It might help you out by checking out this stand.

Thanks, Dan. Yeah, my only option appears to be some form of custom corner shelf, as the stands in the link you provided are too wide for corner placement (between an effin' doorwall and a fireplace). Like you, I like my current cabinet, as it is only 34" wide and yet still encases my Onkyo receiver, Sony mega changer, and VCR. After looking at some big screen (50") TV's with small "base" footprints of 34", my current cabinet would work just fine.

My CSi40 currently sits on top of my 32" Toshiba, resting on one of those "extension shelfs" that fastens to it. But that option goes away when the big screen (eventually) arrives.

Is employment of a center channel speaker stand an option? It's portability may make it an enticing alternative.

That's what I was hinting to above, but appeared to be a fly by.

Anyone know of a stand that can handle a CS1000p? :D It seems to not be a standard size...

We sold a customer some equip. recently & when we delevered I got to see his setup. He had a center chanel shelf that rested & was velcroed to the top of the set & the back of the shelf had 2 legs that was threaded to adj the hight, attached to the back via a pivot. The other end was a pad that had velcro & was velcrowed to the set. I think it was made by Sanus. The shelf looked to work very well & being adjustable able to adj the speaker angle.

I use a Center Stage Bracket.

you can see a bunch of pictures of them on their Facebook fan page.

    https://www.facebook.com/centerstagebrackets

They have a bunch of different sizes to suit different applications/speaker sizes. Seems to work great for lots of people including me! Here's a picture from their site:
