From what I have read, the Euro's put more emphasis on source than speaker in defining the key element of a music system. Both F1 and Doro have this covered and dont like the B&W with there gear, Troy, Russ, Dan more or less on the other side and they have excellent source gear.

Seems to me those "fence walkers" who say its a system who's parts share importance and must create synergy with each other have something going there. I have had this feeling about gear for a while, dont really like it though, would be much nicer to say this or that is most important and this next and so on.

As for B&W speakers, well I have only store demoed with Anthem pre, Lexicon amp, for the dough they just did not do it for me, echo Max just thought it was so much money for something sounding to me as very good, but no magic to speak of. Again that is in store demo for you, maybe if I lived with them in my room I might feel different, for now I am still digging my 1C's but am really starting to get jonesing for some planars.

Changing Caps?? Better parts is better parts and is logical, but like tuning a fine piano its all got to be there to start with. Have not heard this one for a while, but no matter how much pretty you put on a piece of crap you always end up with just pretty crap.

I need to refrain from letting posts such as this get under my skin. It just seemed 'out of left field', and made no sense. (to me)

Then again, it doesn't have to. Apologies to all.

gregure - Have you heard the new VA Grand series? If so, how do they compare to the original Beethovens or Mozarts. I am a big VA fan and since tweeter no longer carries them I have to drive a couple of hours to get to hear them (which I plan on doing as soon as I know for sure he has them in stock). I would pick VA over B&W. I know I'm in the minority but Vienna Acoustics are one of my favorite speakers (just a little too pricey for a guy with two daughter's needing to go to college)

    Shack,

I, too, love the Viennas more than life itself. Beautiful speakers. My store has had the Beethoven Grand for quite some time, with 3 bass drivers this thing is a monster. Certainly superior to the old Beethoven. These are amazing speakers. We also carry the new Mozart, which is a wonderful speaker as well, plus the Haydns, which is the best bookshelf speaker I know of. We are still awaiting arrival on the new Beethoven Baby Grand, which in driver array is exactly the same as the old Beethoven, but is only a tiny bit larger than the Mozarts. I saw a pair in Rosewood and they were amazing, but we did not hear them as they were only on display for a presentation from some Sumiko reps. They told us that all speakers and all finishes would be available by the end of August, so you shouldn't have to wait too long to hear them. The Sumiko reps also said that the Baby Grands are quickly becoming everyone's favorite Vienna tower at Sumiko. Can't wait to hear them.
