You're going to love this one... First, I live in a condo and always think of my neighbors when I power up my home theater. Well, I got some new neighbors last week (section 8 scum) that love to blast that rap crap at all hours of the day, (remember you can't spell crap, without rap) and have a total disregard for everyone except themselves. So I went down to the management company to put in a complaint that their music is so loud that I can hear it in my bathroom. Well, they said there is nothing they can do, and to call the town noise control section. The town informed me that since it is private property they can't do anything till 2200hrs, and then you have to call the local police anyway. Here it comes, don't miss it. The management company told me, " Turn up the volume on your stereo." Oh boy, are they in for it...

Marantz 8500
Three, count em (3) m200 monoblocks

Tool, then hit them with some Nine Inch Nails. Round it out with some old school Metallica.

If you have sattelite, find a heavy metal station and CRANK IT. Sirius has Hard Attack - channel 29.

That oughta get on their nerves.

Or even worse, play some old country. :D

Section 8 scum? Are you suggesting that families that receive goverment assistance to try to raise their standard of living are all scum?

My parents utilized Section 8 housing and I resent your name-calling and sterotyping. Perhaps you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth, many of us weren't that lucky.

I can not speak for him, but he never said that all people that are section 8 are scum. He said that his new neighbors were section 8 scum.

There is such a thing as section 8 scum, just like there is such a thing as rich scum, poor scum, and middle class scum.

All I can say is,"Sorry Graig if I offended you or anyone on this forum by my statement"
As you know, if you lived on section 8 for any extended period of time , which is federally funded for life not just assistance, and you only contribute 30% of your income to rent if you work, you know that the majority of the people on (goverment assistance) as you referred to it, paint a bad picture for the minority of the people that really need and benifit from the program. I am living next to one of the bad majority. This condominimum community is one of the nicest places you can find, Olimpic pool, 8 tennis courts, bacci, a gym that rivals a Golds gym, and a lake. This is not one of the Projects in New York City. The reason section 8 tenants are in this community is because the landlords are exployting the section 8 system. They are getting $1800 a month for a 1 bedroom and $2200 for a two bedroom. Greg, I get up every morning to go to work and pay my mortgage, and I refuse to put up with the disrespect these people are dishing out. Lets just say her parol officer before she moved in gave me the heads up, she is on parol for selling drugs to minors, exploiting children and burglary, ( how safe is your home theater now). These people paint a bad picture for all the others, like your family, who needed section 8 assistance to survive, and wholeheartedly respected the communities you lived in.

Oh, I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I went to University, earned two Masters degree's (paid for with student loans), and worked hard for everything I have. Every day I put on my uniform, put my life on the line, protect the people in gotham, and send out my mortgage payment on the first of every month..

Once again, sorry for the section 8 comment.

So, Graig what would you do?

Actually, I should apologize to you. I was just yankin your chain a bit. You came back with a very measured and succinct response without losing your cool. Nicely done.

I did feel the section 8 scum comment was a bit out of line, but as was pointed out, there are "scum" in all walks of life.

btw...Pantera, Cowboys From Hell would probably do the trick ;)

Tough situation. Prior behavior will return. Find out the terms of the probation and see if there is a way to get it violated. I wouldn't waste a good pair of speakers on them.

Lets jump hope they down own something like this...

Yeah, they are cheap speakers, but they dont require alot of power (cheap receivers can power them) and their effeciency is through the roof. In other words, while your taxing out at 105-107db, they'll be going into the 110-115db range....

Just because you have HQ gear dosnt mean you can take on cheap stuff, different designs, different out-comes - that whole thing.

And I echo everything Sean said....your in a complex with past thieves? And your turning up your system? Get some noise-canceling headphones and forget about it.
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

My vote goes to hard core techno. Nuthin like 160 BPM with six 7 inch woofers to smoke them out.

I do the same thing with my scummy neighbors, however the girl next door has a sony boombox with a tape player. She attempts to blast c*rap but its just a boombox. I through in my godsmack concert DVD and rattle the things in her house, especially with the windows open.

I'm a big fan of stereo pissing contests, and so far im undefeated :)

What is getting into a pissing contest like that likely to do but getting the neighborhood pissed at you too?

    hmm some Gregorian chant ?

Honestly, I know what you are going through, when we bought our house which is also a condo, the owner said she had stereo wars with the laday above. I saw the system, 2 technique speakers hook up to a boombox. I thought there is no war going to happen just complete and total annihilation. Then I thouht it's not worth it. They will in the end , end up blowing their speakers and as mentioned you don't want other knowing what you have.

There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

Record hours and hours of "The Golden Girls" and play it as loud as you can. Hearing Bea Arthur and that broad who played Blanche carry on about arthritis and such would be highly irritating.
