For all of you who are Rti fans, this could be your next upgrade.

Man this baby is awesome. HDMI and DVI switching. Built in ready for XM radio. 3 zones with 7.1 or 9.1 Denon style. Awesome power and great sound quality. Very well built and the menu system is killer. Probably the best preamp section I have seen.

I find this receiver much better then the avr5805 since yoou can actually find a home for it and use everything it does.

Guys go check it out.

AVR4806

Yeah, it's nice, no doubt of that, but I just couldn't see putting that kind of coin into an AVR though. Especially for RTi speakers when the receiver itself would cost more than a whole 7.1 ensemble of speakers plus a SVS or HSU sub would.

The 4806 is perfect for those who choose the continue using a receiver for space issues, especially for those with a plasma or DLP with only one HDMI input. You can plug up to three HDMI devices into the unit, and run one to the TV. It's got lots of power, and sounds good, but B&K still sounds better. The built in XM radio is pretty cool.

it's very, very nice but I agree with Marker.

$3,500 is too steep for a receiver imo

3500.00 for a receiver isn't out of hand. Remember that not everyone is into sound quality first.

Denon over the years has led in the feature department. This receiver is no different. For inwalls , Rti series speakers and such, this is where it's at. I installed one on Friday and man is it nice. I was very Impressed. Like the avr3805 which is a great receiver but it can't do what this can do.

I own seperates and my preamp can't dso half of what this can do. Sure my sound quality is light years ahead of it... but it's all about what your looking for.

Sound quality isn't that bad. Actually it's pretty good. I did it with all Boston VRI series inwalls and it was Impressive. The sub was a Velodyne SPL1200 series 2 in gloss black.

For less than a third of the price of the 4806, the 3805 shouldn't remotely touch that thing.......but the amp section isn't THAT much better between the two, features or not......

You could get a B&K 507 for less than that Denon.....

3500 is about what I'd expect to pay for a decent used car, not a receiver.

    lol that's a cheap **** car. haha

I'm surprised you didn't talk about the Audyssey MultEq Auto Setup System. When I saw a presentation about this on the 5805, I about dropped a nut. It's Bose's Adapt IQ done right! haha

    Troy's right on.

Seriously- if someone is investing 3,500 in either an amp OR receiver- then I would think that sound quality is the primary issue.

If not- they must be very rich.

I'd submit that if you are spending THAT much on a receiver.....you are more interested in bells and whistles than performance. Not entirely, but a huge amount.

I just picked up a couple of Marantz avrs new from an authorized dealer for less than $600 each shipped. I know damned well the 4806 is not approx. $3000 better than them in sound quality.

Granted, it does have more features though.

The 4806 will trample the **** out of most other receivers that we've discussed. Again, B&K sounds better, but then B&K puts pretty much all of their effort into sound quality, and less into features.
Still, the 4806 sounds better than anything from Onkyo, HK, Marantz, Pioneer Elite, Yamaha at or under its price range.
You guys should at least hear the thing before you knock its sound quality. It isn't just about features, but it has more flexibity than any other receiver I've seen except for its big brother the 5805. The 5805 is a behemoth and sounds awesome. It has plenty of power and is on par with B&K, however it is $6000 as opposed to $3500. We crank the 5805 real loud on Vienna Webern system (4 Ohm) and a REL Q201 and it shakes the whole store.

Well, a NAD T773 can be had for about $1500. I can pretty much damned well guarantee you that the 4806 sure as hell won't trample it in sound quality. 5805 either for that matter.

Hell, you could get NAD or Rotel seperates for less than that thing costs!

Hey I spent 2,600 on that onkyo 989. What I could have bought if I knew what I know now. It has all the bells and whistles. For what I spent I could have bought a nice amp and pre amp.

As in the past Denon isn't always about the sound quality first. it's a feature machine and if you need some of these features or all of them for that matter, it's killer.

I will agree that it sounds better then most other receivers with the exception of B&K and Rotel, but they don't have half the features or connectability that the Denon does. Everyone has there needs. This receiver fills a killer gap where it needs to be. I like it for what it can do. The HDMI/DVI switching is priceless in some systems.

Denon's sound quality isn't bad, actually it's pretty good. it's no where in the same league as Rotel or B&K but for what it can do, and the needs of certain systems, it makes up for it in a big way.

I wish my Rotel rsp1068 has HDMI/DVI switching. I actually have a use for it. That would be really cool as the Denon alreay does it.
