Just wanted to let you guys know that my 9 year old nephew has been diagnosed with cancer in the roof of his mouth, he is having surgery today to see what of it that they can remove, I hope they can get all of it but you just never know.

He is a great kid and I just wonder somtimes why it has to happen to a child but I am not in control of that.

Shack, he is in your neck of the woods at u.t I think or it may be the childrens hospital if you have time to check in on him. P.m. me if you think you might be able to drop by for me, my sister, his dad, my and mom are there so you might get to meet some of my family.

I will keep you all informed about how he is doing, I will say this the one thing that has amazed me are how good his spirits are, he has not let this rain on his parade one bit.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Tell them to get some plain teabags and have him carry them around. I had a section of the roof of my mouth cut out in middle school and no matter how careful you are, the stitches will release and bleed like a major wound. (Figure garden hose at about 1/4 open) The only thing you can do is use a tea bag to push against it until you can get back to a doctor. It slows the bleeding.

I hope everything turns out OK.

Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

He'll be added to the prayer list at my church before the end of the day. If he's at UT Med Center in Knoxville, he's in most capable hands and should do well if they caught early. Just remember that kids are vert resilient. Everything will be fine, stay positive and God bless.

I hope so russ, they found out that it was bigger than expected and that it had grown quite a bit over the past two weeks.

They also said that the youngest case of this type of cancer that was documented was 40 years of age and that this was the now the youngest case ever reported. Needless to say he said that he would be following him for a very long time, but he did feel like he got all of it.

    Thanks a million guys,
    Mike

I wish him the best Mike. The wife had a bout with breast cancer about a year ago and underwent surgery and radiation treatment. She had her one year checkup recently and came up clean. I hope all goes well for him.
