listenned to the player some more, definitly here it openning up a bit after keeping it on for 19 hours. I here detail i havent heard before, sound is just a little off for me. i guess i'll be rolling tubes for a while. also will be orderring the signal cable power cord as well.

I found the Ei Yugos to be the smoothest sounding out of the Sovtek LPS and EH. Depends on your gear. If you want more treble and highs the Sovtek LPS and then the EH is the way to go (from I heard).
Some of the NOS tubes I tried in this player sounded boring and dull. You can also substitute 5751 tubes instead of 12AX7s but you will have about 30% less gain; easy to compensate with volume control though.
I usually don't get too critical with gear until it has over 100 hrs on it. -
my eh tubes should be here teusday. after 48 hours of nonstop cooking, the jolida is definitly starting to open up (thank GOD!)
i guess it was such a big investment, i panicked a little.
listenned to it today for about an hour, more smooth. still hear details i didnt hear before. horns and accoustical instruments just feel more alive. It probably has even more breaking in to do, plus i am curious as to how the EH tubes will sound. i didnt hear much of a difference between the stock Jolida tubes and the Groove Tubes i replaced them with.Living Room 2 Channel -

My first impression when I got mine was that it sucked bigtime...and it was a year old so it wasn't a break in thing. I swapped out the stock Jolidas and put in some NOS GE's, vintage 1963 and it started sounding pretty nice but it wasn't until I added the new Ei Elites to my preamp that it really started to please me. I can honestly say that this is the sound I've been looking for.
Anybody with the Dodd ELP....you gotta try the Ei Elites. yeah right? i figured that, but at least now i know she's capable of good things, so rolling and breajing in tubes will actually be enjoyable
Dragon - i felt the same way, i was very unhappy with mine (although mine was new, not 1 yr old) which really upset me. I've heard equipment that needed break in, but not to this extent. did alot of listening last night and am now at least happy with the unit's base line performance, i dont care about breaking in new tubes since i got a sound i can live with now. finding better is just icing on the cake now, which is a GOOD thing

i rolled the electro harmonix tubes in the Jolida and instantly learned first hand that different tubes can make a drastic difference in sound. I liked the sound with the groove tubes, but love it with the Eh tubes. openned up the highs significantly! I will definitly be going with this set up for a while, but will definitly be trying the ei elites per jesse's reccomendation down the road.
