I'm not sure how she did it, but the better half managed to fry a 6½ driver in my CS400i - while watching a Barbra Streisand movie!?!?!? I believe I bought the unit in '02, from Crutchfeild, but not sure. I'm thinking the unit should still be under warranty, and that the driver should be user-replaceable. Anyhow, I do have its serial number handy. I'm guessing the driver is a stock item, though looking at the parts lists on the Polk website, I didn't find the specifics for the CS400i. Now what?

Thanks for the prompt reply. I figured out I bought it in Jan '02, from Crutchfield. I do have the order #, but no receipt seems to be findable. I'm sure hoping this is a warranty deal.

BTW - I've been a Polk fan for about 25 years. A pair of '82 vintage 5jrs and an LF14 are still in service here. My HT rig is RTi stuff, but the oldies still work fine.

An LF14 is an unpowered subwoofer - it has a pair of 6½" drivers and a 14" passive radiator. Its a big sucker - about 3' high, 19"wide, prolly about 15' deep, weighs something like 35 pounds. I drive it with an old 100 Watt-per-Channel receiver, which is fed the LFE line output from a 6.1 receiver.

 LOL - 15" deep - sloppy typing. Sorry about that. Anyhow, its late '70s product. Works real well when driven by a fairly capable amp; base is tight and authoritative, though the ultra-low end you get from one of today's big multi-hundred watt 12 or 14 inchers isn't really there. But then, in its day, that wasn't in recorded music, either.

    Hello,
Thanks for posting on the Forum, I'm sorry you're having a problem with the center speaker. All you need do is box the 6.5" driver up and send it to Polk Audio, 2550 Britannia Blvd., Suite A, San Diego, CA. 92154. Include a short note giving us your name and address and mention that you purchased the unit from the Crutchfield company. If you telephone Crutchfield at 1-800-955-3000 they can send you a copy of your original purchase. But, in order to get your speaker working as quickly as possible, in the accompanying note, that you send to us, mention that you have been in touch with me.
    Regards, Ken

Thanks - will do. Quick question - I had Crutchfield email me a text copy of my order/invoice; it shows the order date & number, the billing & shipping info, the product details (there were several items), and shipping tracking info - will that suffice or should I have them fax me a copy of the actual invoice?

    Hello,
No, that will do fine, just include a copy inside the box along with your name and address. We'll take care of it.
