It will help cancel out the backwave, it also helps the enclsoure dampen the rattles. I am a fan of foam pads that line the enclosure myself... good stuff...

And yes, dont put a woofer in a sealed enclosure that just had caulk put in it

Make sure you put some type of foam tape around the cut out hole...

What kind of damping? Would Dynamat be ok inside the box?

That stuff might dampen vibrations but it dosnt do what foam does...

For instance, stick your head inside your subwoofer enclosure and talk... it will echo and sound bassy...

Ok, now imagine what they enclosure is adding to your bass (or detracting from). That is probally adding alot of bloom. Not counting if you have a ported sub, alot of that backwave is exited out the port, YUCK...

Foam pads dampen the vibrations + cancel out any backwave and gets rid of that nasty "bloom"/echo inside the enclosure, especially makes a difference in ported enclosures, IMO

you know, I do have a test tone CD. I have just the song to play on it. It is a test tone from 0-100 Hz. It REALLY makes the sub move. I'll have to try it...

The **** has like barely any excursion it seems. I have it to where I can tolerate and it looks like it's not even trying. lol. guess I got a little headroom just in case.

i'll get a video and some pictures as well. realmofexcursion has files and test tones too I believe.

I might end up painting it. What do you guys think? Leave it like it is? This pic shows how much clearance I have. It should allow for plenty of excursion with no problems.
