    Kicker is ****?

Theyve got more wins in the competition circle than you can shake a stick at. You cant do that with ****. Ya dont see too many Audiobahn setups in the winners circle. :D

note - i'm not "proud" of my brand as of late - but, do i care? no... a) free, b) sounds really really good, c) it looks cosmetically sweet, and d) F R E E.

far as kicker - alma gates is a pimp, that goes without saying, and team gates has done wicked **** **** in the world of car audio competition... i just dont like kicker though.

    i'm really bitchy with brands.

thats why even though i'm not running any polk gear in the 2003 truck, i still speak highly of the brand - once a brand is "in" with me, it stays in till it screws up hardcore - and brands that aren't in have to do something amazingly shocking for me to even peak my squinty little eyes at them.

I agree with that. Im pretty much brand loyal as well.

I will jump around within my little circle but it usually stays pretty small. Polk, JL, MB and Diamond are usually the only speakers I consider.

I have stuck with the same companies for many years. I have just recently tried a couple of other brands. I am waiting for Alpine to start making top notch HU's again. I guess I will have to keep waiting though, till then my current Eclipse will do just fine.

Kind of sucked to have to jump ship on them after running their HU's since the early 90's. I thought that their HU's were very easy to use, I could mess with them without looking.

Have you seen the latest Kicker truck? The tail lights slide out to reveal the amps.

you're not going to get an mtx doing twice its rated power... those days are long gone.

back when the old Blue Thunder Pro series was out, you may readily see 50 to 75% "over power" at 12.5 volts on the birth sheet. (thats assuming you trust the birth sheet - i do, but some people may not).

those days are over, i do repeat.

a Thunder or Thunder X000 series would give you usually around 15-20% overpower... but the build quality is what truly forged me forever an mtx loyalist.

i do truly believe that mtx amps were built to take a beating, come back for more, and in the unusual event the took a **** on you, they are designed in such a way that facilitates quick and easy repair.

i've reworked about 40 amps now in my few years of **** with this stuff, and i am more than glad to say that mtx has a 100% "life after death" rate so far. Old Orion stuff (prior to the DEI buyout) is right up there as well. Same goes for Precision Power (PPI) and [believe it or not] Profile California junk. But JBL, Infinity, Jensen, Rockford, Power Acoustic .... ****, I got ONE damn JBL to come back... rest were complete toast.

    MTX Blue THUNDER 50x4... rated at 25rms x 4 @ 4 Ohm...
    Actually produce 54 rms at 4 Ohm and 78rms @ 2 Ohm... :)

I think its the stupidest thing Ive ever seen!

Dont get me wrong, I admire the craftsmanship and skill involved in making it but Im just really tired of installs like this, even in demo cars.

Alpine started it all with their Civic about 3 years ago.

I like demo cars that still look like cars. Whats the point in hacking out the inards of a car, putting a single seat in the middle of 1200 speakers? Why use a car at all? Why not just build a soundroom and put wheels on it?

I agree with you MacLeod. When I get my Car Audio & Electronics magazine I just pass all of that stuff up. I only look at it when I have looked at everything else (usually when I am bored), and then I just say why do this? I would much rather look at "real" life installs.

    Blue Legend?

    Blue Thunder amps were simply...

    - Road Thunder (forget what incarnation they numbered it)
    - Blue Thunder
    - Blue Thunder Pro

The subwoofers were Blue Thunder Legends and Blue Thunder Extremes.

Maybe you just mean a non - pro blue thunder.

    silver case or blue case?

silvers were pro's. blues were regulars... they were all good though.

It's what I run now... a Blue Thunder 754 and a Blue Thunder 502 ... the two Thunder 81000d's are just for looks... LMFAO... they don't do much.. nah.. nothin at all... 3000 watts of "nothin at all"... lol. :D

Yeah, it would be nice if they would show more cars that don't require three full-time fabricators.

The one '05 stang install I found looked really simple.

that is an excellent installation, but not really technically difficult, it's just yer basic fiberglassing skills applied very carefully over a large area... lots of planning, and an absolutely absurd amount of sanding, but definitely possible...

I would be like, "kids you will have to stay home from now on" well at least when I was driving that car :). That subs enclosure looks nice but it is not something I would do, even if I did not have kids.

notice i didn't use the word 'practical' :D

i much prefer an install that allows you to use the car to its fullest... now my car, on the other hand... the back bench is barely big enough to hold kids, much less two real people, so there's an idea... :p

I've seen a similarly insane (awesome + impractical) showcar. A Civic that had all the external lamps replaced with speakers.3-way JLs up front (tweeter on the turn light, midrange on low beam, midwoofer on high). then NO SEATS, just to you can stare at the X-overs for the 5 pairs of components inside.THat thing isn't a car anymore, its jsut an expensive garage soundsystem.
