    Really looks great for a +30 year old bike! I have always had a soft spot for BMWs and Guzzis. They just seem to run forever.

    If times were a little different, I would love to take a bike trip through Europe on a BMW. You see so much more, on a bike!

    Beautifull machine, the cops use them here, run like the wind, almost stealth like a sub. or sailboat. Before the BMW's they had Harleys loved that sound. Worked hard for that Ill bet. Aloha

    It just rides sooooo smoothly. The only way to describe it is on my Kawasaki, when I hit 30 mph, I feel like the bike is really moving. With the BMW, when I hit 30 mph, I feel like I'm really moving (and forget there is a bike underneath me).

    The weather has been rainy ths week but were almost in June and only two days over 80 degrees so I'm digging it.

    Thanks. I have been after this bike for 9 years. I almost bought one 9 years ago but the seller wanted cash. I showed up as agreed the next day with $1500 in hand but there was no bike in sight. His wife bounced out of the door and proudly announced that she sold it to a guy on the street for $500 and he paid her with a check, which bounced. Anyway, I'm glad to finally have it.

    I'm not sure. That photo was taken by the seller outside of his house. I think he did mention that it was a Triumph.

    Friend of mine has his dad's 1969 R-60, which he purchased new. The bike has 38K original miles and looks "as new". She still starts and runs "as new" also.

    The cool thing is I bought it from somebody in Massachusetts and they delivered it to my door. First, however, they stopped by Bob's BMW in Jessup, MD. They offered him twice for the bike in cash than I paid. Bob's has a motorcycle museum and couldn't believe that it was real and ran.

    I love the old air cooled BMW flat twins.
    I wish I had never sold my R90s in orange. It was so comfortable on long rides. Not the fastest bike I have ever had but a wonderful riding machine.

    Did you hear that one of the new BMW 1000RRs won the Isle of Mann TT? Set a new record doing it too.

    The OP's Beemer is a sweet vintage for sure, but that 1000 double R is something I would get on in a heart beat.

    Isle-O-Mann? yeah, put me on a scooter and I'll do it, todays rockets have no business on that island....IMO.

    A fellow racer was on the double R when they first came out, said it behaved a lot like the '06 GSX-R 1000 I was on.

    My ex-father in law has been a big bmw - cars and motorcycles - fan for decades. In the 70's he had one of two Bavarian police motorcycles in Iowa. He sold it and then decades later he had the opportunity to buy the "other one" that was in Iowa and he restored it. Those vintage bikes are so cool. Enjoy!
