Man this year wasn't as good as it usually is.

But some cool stuff happened. I got to witness a live wire debate then almost a fist fight. This guy from Prana Wire compay was telling people that his wire was the best in the world. Nothing at any price could you better his stuff. Ok well it got alot of peoples attention including mine. So I went over to his table and listened to this other guy debate that his wire was better. Some guy just bought new speakers and found that they made the biggest difference in his system in many years. This guy was a audiophile from hell. He owned so many different setups I just wanted to barf. The Prana Wire guy told him that speakers aren't the difference makers if there isn't good wire to go with them. I agreed with that but to what extreme he was talking I wasn't into. The audiophile said that wire makes an important roll but isn't the final say. They went back and forth and finally the audiophile said to the Prana Wire guy that "your wire seems like a gimmick and he should get a imfromercial spot with all the other crap". Man the guy from Prana Wire turned red and started yelling. He was pissed off. I was waiting for it to go to blows. I was getting excited as I want to throw a few at this jerk Prana Wire guy.
I gotta admit I was all wired out after the show. I'm all tired of wire companies and there cliams. I did however get to meet Ray Kimber in person. I get weak in the knees and felt like Wayne and Garth. I wanted to get on my knees and chant" I'm not worthy as I'm bowing. I told him about my love for Kimber and he really dug that. We talked about the Heros Monocoles and 8tc. He was digging it as I was. Very cool to meet people like that. I eat it up.

But back to the wire bit, there are to many companies claiming there wire is all that. Most of it looks like home made crap. I'm not into wire like that anymore. I just don't want to make time for all of it. I'm happy with my wires and have no desire to try all that other stuff. I guess after all the years, it wears on yeah. Only so much can be done with good wire. Matching the level of your system to the level of a given brand that you enjoy is key man. thats where it's at.

    Dan,
Thanks for sharing man. Yeah, wire can only do so much as one has to have the gear first.

Did Dynaudio have a room? I need another sub and was looking at the Sub 250 or Sub 300 for my Contour bookshelves. They have pretty good bass standalone but in a few months I'll be ready for a sub for them. I already have a SVS and a Hsu so I want something different. I know you like REL too. Any thoughts on the Dane subs vs. the REL? I'll be interested to see what sub you finally get with your new rig (although it sounds like the 82s have plenty of bass already from your other post).

    P,
No Dynaudio didn't have a room. They for some reason or another never come to HE. Shame but true. I have listened to the Dyanduio subs. They are very musical like Rel. Dynaudio still puts music first. It would be tuff to decide between a Rel and a Dynaudio sub.

The 82's dig so damn deep Bro. My god they where rippling the floor. I may have to renail it back down. WOW .

Dyn was at the AES convention in the fall. Maybe they'll be at the upcoming one in NY this fall.
