Ah, what can I say about this? This movie should have been longer..

Why? Well for a few reasons, its so short that its not true to the story and feels rushed... Not to mention they skipped like 5 books to get to a scene that felt completely out of place, and again...rushed...

Harry Potter gets 3 hours while this, much better story only gets 1.5 hours? PFFT!

Not to mention they weren't true to the writers original thoughts, as he goes into all kinds of unnessicary details, which they do maybe twice... which is not even CLOSE to how the writer does it... LAME... It is a movie, and time is short, but they should stay true to the books, IMO...

Don't get me wrong though, I loved the movie, and I plan to buy it...which is rare for me. I would have just much more enjoyed a longer, truer to the book movie. I hope they make a part 2...and 3...and 4...etc

Worth a rental, if not a buy...

Excellent bass usage, and surround usage...

I saw this on the plan flying home today. Since that is where I saw it, I really cannot comment on picture or sound quality (I was listening on my sennheiser headphones and it sounded pretty good, but ambient noise was very high. (almost plane like.. :) )

I thought it was a pretty good story worthy of a purchase if you are into that sort of story. It is a little above my kids heads (they are 3 and 5) but I am sure I will purchase it in the years to come.

BTW - never read any of the books.

Hehe, don't get me wrong. I absolutely loved the movie...

I just felt it was kind of rushed overall...

The books are awesome, and I hope the series of movie continue...just as long as the next ones are LONGER...jeez

But yeah, the series gets *much* darker than this one... especially as they go down the line of guardians...it gets much much much darker....

It was terrible, so I went to sleep. The nieces loved it, so that's all that counts.

I liked it but was a little dissapointed when comparing it to the books... but then thats always how it goes when you try and cram a book into an hour and a half with the artisic views of a producer.

I bought the movie today...the collectors editions, with the second disc, etc...

THe director *really* explains why he couldnt follow the book directly...

And with his explanation...I enjoy the movie alot more knowing that he did it in the best way possible...

One thing I would like to note to yall, there is next to no CGI in this movie... it is pretty much all on-set filming, with perspective sets... Amazing how they did it all...

Also liked how all the 'inventions' were really there, and were really working, again..not CGI

I also liked how the lake scene is done with real water, not CGI...lots of cool stuff...

Lots of work, and colaboration was done with this film & the author...

I also picked up the video games, which is strangely enjoyable...

I am a huge fan of the books if you cant tell! :p - I guess I will have to buy all of the books as well to read straight through, havnt read any of them since I switched from Middle school to high school.. lord...I havnt read any actual book except a textbook since I went to HS

Saw this movie last night and my wife summed it up perfectly. It was a "cute" movie. Certainly not a cinematic masterpiece but it was well done and very much in a Tim Burton-esque flavor. It was an enjoyable enough movie for parents to sit through with thier kids but I am sure that most adults would either find this movie too whimsical and odd or just plain boring as all get out. I found it delightfully odd and really enjoyed a couple of parts but could pass on owning it unless I had kids who enjoyed it immensely. It was obviously geared towards a more youthful audience and because of that, I think most adults would find it predicatable and silly. While it was predictable, without even reading the books, I found it fun and not necessarily silly. Overall, it was a good movie and worth renting but not one I would rush out to buy. I'd at least wait for the discount bin at WAL*MART before I picked this one up.

I never saw it but I was watching Ebert & Roper yesterday as they were talking about new releases on DVD. When they got to this one they noticed that on the cover it says they gave it two thumbs up. They went back and showed the original review and it was two thumbs DOWN!

I watched the movie last night and while its nothing to rave about, overall I found it enjoyable. I thought the DVD also had very good picture and sound quality with some nice engaging bass moments.

Saw it Sunday too. Same feelings as Nelson above, enjoyable, but I wouldn't buy it.
