That beemer has a WEAK enclosure...

You should spend some money on some 3/4" MDF and some vinyl wrap and have a field day...

    1/2" MDF or Particle board...yuck

ANYWAYS! Back to the speakers at hand - AWESOME, good placement and everything...sweetness

Oh shut up Sid, not everyone has woodshop class to rebuild all their enclosures (or the desire to do so either).

The enclosure on the sub is fine, for what it is intended for.

Airplay has the tools around him to do it, he's built some before...

Other than that, leave it alone ;)

    Anyways...

I'm curious as to how they compare to the RTi70, since you still have them in the den area, no?

Rti70s are in the room across from mine, and the biggest difference is by far the inverted dome tweet. It's much much smoother then the silk dome. The S's, C's and T's don't cut right through you as they did with the rti70's, even at killer volumes. The depth is also much better. I was listening to some Shpongle and the echos were amazing, they were so crystal clear. Drums on my system have much more impact now, but I noticed this after I used the cobalt cables. Theres more slam, and it sounds more natural, and as a real drum should and would. The soundstage seems to be the same to me, I haven't noticed anything as far as hearing things in different places. Background noises are much more defined and clear. Acoustic insturments sound amazing, especially guitars. I put in Alice and Chains Unplugged, and it sounds just like you are there. I love it. I think the carver amp was by far the biggest improvement. The amp made the Rti's sound amazing but the silk dome still has the harshness with S's even with the amp. I can't watch movies in my room because of the ground loop I'm getting when i add my TV to the circuit, so I don't know how they sound for DVD's. I'll write more as I discover more things about them.

As for the sub, I could care less about the enclosure. I don't have the tools to build another enclosure, I don't have the money ( seeing as how I just spent about $900 on this system), and I like the sub the way it is. With some real hard bass it walks across the wood floor, so it's no cheap POS. It pounds pretty hard for a little 8". I also like that it's small enough to put in between the speakers instead of in the corner. I had never tried anything except corner loading, and after putting the sub in the middle, I hate corner loading. The sub blends so much better with the speakers, and it seems the fr is much smoother now. I don't have to go turn it down when changing types of music. I like it alot better in between the speakers, corner loading sucks.

Maybe you should try putting some vibrapods under the sub to keep it isolated and still, it will definetely tigthen up the bass if it is actually "walking"...

Glad to hear the JM Lab's are a found improvement...you checked out the crossovers? ;)
