Looks like a nice amp, there. I haven't looked at the specs, but I assume that it's 100 watts rms by four channels. If that's the case, I guess you wouldn't be able to turn it up all the way, but that's not a big deal.

I'm also wary of buying stuff online. If you can get past that, sounds like a good deal.

Cool, thanks guys. Just to be clear, for me to play music at loud but not blastin (say 60% volume) to not exceed something in the range of 80 watts rms x 4 and if I plan on going louder to stay closer to my RMS of 50-60???

I hope somebody else answers your question as I'm not sure, but here's what I think:

If you get an amp that puts out 40 watts per channel, you're going to have to turn up the volume on your HU pretty high to get it blastin'. If you get this amp that is 100 watts per channel, then you won't have to turn up the volume as much to get the same SPL (sound pressure level). Basically, you can play it as loud as with another amp (volume), just not as high (like, maybe not past 70%).

I think that's right; if not, someone will correct me, and we'll both learn!

Wattage doesnt necessarily mean louder. Giving your speakers more wattage may make em louder but it mainly makes them sound better.

To get your speakers to perform properly your best bet is to get the power that they are rated for. If your DB's are rated at 60 watts RMS thats the neighborhood you should aim for.

Profile amps are the best choice for a small budget. They are well made and make their rated power cleanly.

Ive always thought that Pioneer amps were one of car audios best kept secrets. They are very well built and make their power very cleanly. This 4 channel and this 2 channel would be a good choice. You run your front and rear speakers off the 4 channel and then run your sub off the 2 channel bridged. All that for $270 total. Not too shabby.

audiobliss - yep, you're right. going from 60 to 100 watts won't make them much louder, but it will allow them to play a tad more cleanly... because of the price on that 100x4, i pick that, but in reality, you'll never use all 100 watts.

my link a couple posts up has a gains-setting walkthrough, too, which will help you not destroy your speakers.

Sure am glad I bought some Polk speakers since I've been able to get great answers from all you guys on this forum. I greatly appreciate the crash courses and advice, feel much better now about finishing out my system. I'm having circuit city do the free install on the amp I've already bought and will install my own amp for the speakers (having them mount a power block for me). Thanks again guys, y'all are super :D

Will do, thank you guys and look forward to chatting some more. Going to hook up my own amp soon (first time) so I'm sure I'll be asking for advice. Just paranoid about **** something up since I've never done it.
