Ok so I am buying a house, and I will be finishing the 1400 sq ft. basement by myself. The house has the support rods every 7 feet down the centerline of the house, but I am going to pay the extra money to have the main floor reinforced to cut down on the number of support rods i need.
Doing this will open up a room that is Max 16ft by 28 feet. I will be turning this into a home theater, and I would like to know what size I should make this room. My setup will be RTI100 fronts, CSI40 Center, RTI38 Rears and FXI30 surrounds. I will be using my 50in DLP until I get a HDTV front projector with screen. Should I make the room as big as possible or is this too much space?

What are you using as a sub? At 16x28, you're almost at 450 sq ft, you'll need a decent sub to pressurize a space that big.
I'm no expert, but 16x28 sounds a bit narrow in terms of perspective...something more like 16x22 sounds right to me, but there are guys here way more knowledgeable than I in this matter. I know Ron-P built one a while back, so you may drop him a pm if he doesn't respond here. There are others as well, just don't remember names... -
The size is fine. You could shave a few feet off the length to 16 x 24. The extra 4 feet isn't a problem but I will agree with Polkmaniac about the sub. You will need a fine sub to pressurize that room.
Swwet man Nice to see you building your theater room.

The shaved off footage would make a nice enclosure for the electronics...
But the HT's volume will still be over 3250 cu ft... and that is large to say the least. If you want to feel the bass in that size room, you are talking either a TOTL sub or more than one...More later,
