After last weekend's game, the game against Louisville was almost a yawner.

Is it just me, or did Louisville just plain "give up" with about 8 minutes left?

I watched the postgame press conferences, and Pitino just couldn't repeat enough how "Illinois was a much better team." At one point he said "I don't think they (Illinois) have the best talent in the tournament, but this is the best TEAM I've seen play in years."

It was a 2-6 point lead for Illinois most of the game, although Lousiville took a brief lead early in the second half. Once Illinois grew the lead to 8... then 10... it's as if Louisville resigned themselves to the loss.

Contrast that with Illinois' approach when down 15 with 4:04 left last weekend.

Louisville didn't even try... they rolled over.

[not complaining about the win, mind you, it just seemed to be a VERY stark contrast..]

So often its the semi's where the really good games occur... obviously not the the case here... hopefully bodes well for the final.

I don't think Louisville gave up, but showed the good sense not to prolong the inevitable by fouling en masse and buring every timeout in last the couple minutes... Only ones that should be unhappy about this are the network exec's that did not get to sell more commercial time.

As for NC vs. State... once NC was up by 10 midway through the 2nd half, I found myself trying to figure out just how NC pulled so far ahead.

On a completely different note.... Somebody has to stop Billy Packer. Hasn't served a useful purpose since Al McGuire (RIP) retired from broadcasting. I used to love it when Al would call Billy on some the the horseshit he spouted...
    More later,
    Tour...

Arrgghh. I don't have a dog in this fight, but it's a good game. ILL has shown a lot to come back. The announcers must get paid extra if UNC wins.
