Killer bass!

"This message will self destruct" *boom*

and a bunch of other scenes.

My wife looked over at me once and said, "That's going in your demo, isn't it?" Pretty cool...:D

I got the "back wall shimmy" a couple times so I know there is some 20Hz or <20Hz.

Regards,
PolkThug

Oh yeah, no complaints on PQ either!

Fun movie overall as well, PQ and SQ not withstanding. It's kinda sad when the releases I've enjoyed most over the past year or so have all been cartoons....

Oh, come now dorokusai, ya gotta believe the "back wall shimmy" test! ;)

I personally have the "Hummel’s are buzzing in the living room" test... while not scientific, it does support the theory! :D

Just picked this one up last night. More l8r.

Petrym - Yea, you're right, I retract that statement.

Who got the free basketball or lithograph? I snatched my free litho and ran out of the store.

I think I'll still wait for the waterfalls before proclaiming "Bass Fest". Haven't heard it myself in my system, but I just remember when I, Robot came out, everyone thought that it was the reference for low bass and it barely had any content below 25Hz.

I'm hoping this is not the case with this movie. I would really like to have a movie where people can say "I never heard/felt that before" (rare) rather than "It sounds better hear" (constant)

My basement interior walls were made with about the cheapest wood paneling crap you can get. The deeper the bass, the further back from the subs the walls will resonate. Its pretty sad really. I hope to refinish it properly some day.

We had 50 people lined up outside CC's doors before they opened to get that damn basketball! Then I got to listen to people **** last night that didn't get one. Doro, I'd Ebay that bad boy!

iRobot goes down to 10Hz in more than one scene, not many movies do that.

Not on any waterfalls that I've seen. Unless you actually count content that is -30dB-40dB which is just leftovers. (If that counts, every movie has 10 Hz content) I have yet to see a single waterfall on that disc that has any significant bass below 25Hz.

Not saying it doesn't exist, just never felt/heard it or saw it on a waterfall.

It exists I swear!;) It's got some pretty nice "leftovers" leading up to "You are experiencing a car accident." (especially first 30 seconds)

Still WAY down from the peaks. Some info, but nothing special. Still centered at >25Hz Those trails are -30dB or lower.

You need the "pink" color down there. Just isn't present. "I robot" has really loud, low bass no doubt. It just doesn't troll as low as other reference bass DVD's. My favorite is the "ghost" cannonball on "Master and Commander"

Look at the rest of Ming's charts and you'll see that this is average for today's DVD's.

Look in the upper right and you will see a scale. The purplish white color is the "reference" volume. All other colors are -XXdB from the refence volume. So White is the loudest followed by purple, dark red, red, etc..

X axis is Hz (How low / high the signal is)
    y-axis is the movies timestamp

    Hope that helped.

Watched it last night, f'ing awesome. The bass was off the charts. I enjoyed this much more at home then I did in the theater. I think from here on out I'm going 100% DVD. No matter the movie, I'll wait. Theaters just suck!

Just finished watching the DVD. Probably Pixar's best sound mix to date (funny, considering that Rydstrom no longer does sound for Skywalker...his replacement did a great job). Then again, the scale of action was quite a bit more in this film than in others. Highly recommended.

Saw this one in the theater and loved it! I remember the bass being nuts in there. Got the DVD and watched it literally 5+ times at work today (it's on our overhead demo loop) and yes, the bass is nuts! It's really in almost every scene... great flick!!!

Got this one and Ladder 49. I plan on watching both this weekend. Pixar always has great sound. If this is the hardest hitting sound Pixar has released, this should be a real treat for me and the family tonight. Thanks for the info guys.

Don't know about hardest hitting (someone in another board did dB comparisons for a few individual sound hits/spikes), but it's probably the densest (sp?) because of all the action, with a lot of LFE useage throughout, as well as some great bangs and booms. You'll love it.

I thought it was just a so so movie. The SQ was great. Lots of bass.

The story just didn't do it for me. A good movie for sure. Glad I watched it. Just compared to Monsters Inc and Toy Story I was a little dissapointed.
