NAD T763 vs. Outlaw 950/7100 Combo

My old R-series HT system's new owner picks up his toys tomorrow.

My new systems speakers = LSI9, 7, C + sub. Room 14x14. 70%HT/30% Music.

Narrowed choice for power to NAD T763 receiver or Outlaw 950/7100 combo. Both are close to my $1,500 limit.

I'd greatly appreciate any advice as this seems like a really close call and I can't make up my mind.

About all I can tell ya is that the 7100 is a fantastic amp for the price. I've never had a problem with mine and am very pleased with the sound.

Too bad your budget is a little low, or I would recommend a B&K receiver. That would really help the LSi's to shine.
Given that, I would recommend going w/ the Outlaw amp, and finding a used nicer pre, or a comparably prices one from another manufacturer. Never really cared for the cheap look of the outlaw preamp. Still, if you've got to go budget, the Outlaw combo would probably be your best bet.
Noticed you mentioned the NAD 763. Why not the 773? 773 has the better reviews (being their flagship) and more power. Plus, you have the option to run 7.1 as opposed to only 6.1 with the 763.
I'll bet the NAD would sound superb too, but the separate amp from outlaw would allow you more dynamic headroom.

Thinking about the Nad 763 because the 773 is above budget. I could go refurbed or used if I have some patience though.

Was going NAD 753 but it seems like the 763 is really the minimum needed give the LSI's proper nutrition.

I'm assuming that the Outlaw 950/7100 combo's 165 or so watts at 4 ohms is more than enough to make my ears bleed.

I don't know what the NAD T763 goes for.. but maybe go that route and a nice two channel amp for your 9's... perhaps Rotel or B&K or the like.

But if that's above your budget.. i think you'd be happy with either set of gear.

my amp is rated at 150w @ 4ohms... Can't see myself going any bigger personally. I vote seperates...

I have the Outlaw 950/755, the 950 is a nice unit. Outlaw is suppose to be offering an up graded version late summer early fall I think. The only thing is in this price range if you want to run all your video sources through the pre-pro it only has 2 component inputs and no DVI. Plenty of S-Video and Digital audio hookups along with 5.1, very easy to set up and use very hard to beat for the price.

I did audition the NAD 773 at a friends home and it's quite an awesome sounding Receiver easily capable of handling very low ohm speakers and....it sounds awesome running the LSi9's. What I noticed about it was the clean open sound that it projects. I was quite impressed with it.

From the feedback it looks like I wouldn't be disappointed taking either path.

Several net dealers just put the 773 on sale, including one refurb. It looks like I can get the 773 for considerably cheaper than the outlaw combo, which is in itself a good deal. So pulling the trigger on the 773.

Jeez, went from the refurbed 753 to the 773 and to the LSIs from the RTis. You are an expensive group to hang with.

I have the LSI9's and LSIC powered by Outlaw M200 monoblocks. I am using a Yamaha 1500 receiver. When I add the LSIFX's I will use the receiver to power them.
