Changes in the rigs.....

Man, getting new stuff is SOOOO much fun.....

I've been playing with a Denon DCD-2560/Parasound D/AC 1600HD in the cave. Great sounding combo. While I they take an overall backseat to the Jolida, that backseat isn't all that far away. It's been cool playing with a DAC. The DAC will probably find a permanent home in the Living Room rig hooked up to the Polk XM tuna.

CRS's and Carver m4.0t.....after playing around with them, they are now part of the HT rig as the center channel setup and it sounds pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. With the Carver TFM-45 on the mains (2.3tl's) and the m4.0 on the center, I even have matching amps. Mantis would be proud, getting my match on.

So, now off to play with the Sony cassette deck, I think I still have a couple hundred tapes in the attic....

Cool. It's fun to play around with spare gear instead of letting them collect dust.

I actually move more gear in and out of my HT rig than any other rig. Just because I prefer 2ch doesn't mean that I don't put any effort into HT, that's just not true.

Here is my current HT lineup:

    SDA SRS 2.3tl's (mains, duh)
    SDA CRS's (centers)
Polk R10's (the infamous .5lb rears)
    Paradigm PDR-10 sub (currently unplugged)

    Thule PR-250 preamp/processor

    Sources:
Polk XM tuna (soon to add Parasound DAC for decoding)
Philips DVD963SA (giant killer DVD/SACD player, 192 upsampling is awesome)

    Amps
    Carver TFM-45
    Carver m4.0t
    Rotel RB-971 MkII

IMHO, not too shabby of a lineup.

Troy are you using a pair of CRS's for your center or just 1. If you are using the pair how do you have them positioned?

I'm using the pair, my preamp has 2 center channel outputs.

They are sitting on top of the tv. There is a few inches between them, not that that makes a big difference I just think it looks better.

Hmmm.............a Dac for the tuna..........now there is a thought and a way to justify something I dont have, thanks for the idea and glad you are having fun. Still I can only imagine, or remember, for that matter how Dave's Jolida and the Amazings sounded together.

Where did you get your spikes for the 2.3, I am needing to do this for the SRS.

    Troy,

Sounds like a really nice Theater system. Why is the sub unplugged? Does it not match? Do you feel it needs to be replaced with something else? How does the twin centers work out?

The sub is unplugged because the 2.3 tl's actually go lower and I've got more than enough horsepower to push them nor do the CRS's need any augmentation....just a matter of preference.

The twin centers work out phenomenal, I highly recommend it.

The 2.3's don't dig all that deep... You need a better sub... ;)

Pfffffft.....the LAST thing I'm going to drop my cash on is a subwoofer.

If I want more bass in the LR, I'd pick up another pair of Amazings first.

They's make cool surrounds... Only ones in the Club that'd have the LFE routed to them... :D
