Concert DVD recommendations?

Hi all, now that I consider my system complete (for now!) I'm looking to break away from my normal listening material that I've been using to judge how my system has evolved soundwise.

My favorite source to partake of is The Eagles Hell Freezes Over DVD - got an extra copy from my parents, and though I hadn't heard too many of their songs before, this concert has quickly become my favorite thing to listen to. I'm only 23, so I grew up listening to alternative rock, which I still like, but not for serious listening. So what I'm looking for are DVD's that share the genre/sound quality/all around greatness of the Hell Freezes Over disc.

I'd gotten the Pink Floyd Pompeii DVD, and while I've become a good fan of Floyd, that's the kind of DVD I'm looking to avoid, just too much fluff - the band and the music is what I'm looking for.

    Diana Krall - Live in Paris is the best concert DVD I've heard to date...

    Concert for George is a personal favorite of mine... Eric Clapton, Joe Brown, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Jeff Lynn, Billy Preston... all at the Royal Albert hall, playing together. The DVD has some Ravi Shankar crap at the beginning, but the second half is these guys just playing a great concert. As an added bonus, there's a DTS track.

    A couple I have that I've really enjoyed are:
    Led Zeppelin-DVD several concerts
    U2-Rattle and Hum
    Fleetwood Mac-The Dance
    -Agree that Eric Clapton is another good one
    There are so many more, but I own so few. I've heard "Heart-Live in Seattle" is another good one, but again, I'm not sure how much of these recommendations would interest you.

    Norah Jones - Live In New Orleans

    Amazingly real. Like you are just actually sitting there, watching her. I found her most recent DVD to be dull and boring. The New Orleans one great.

    John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers - 70th Birthday Celebration Concert.

    Buy the package deal with the CD and DVD. They left the dynamite warm-up by Buddy Whittington and the crew (Grits Ain't Groceries and Jacksborough Highway) off the DVD and inserted an interview.

    no. seriously. it's good stuff. good ol rock and roll. those ladies can still kick it.

    pink floyd is supposed to release pulse dvd in march the vhs was great !!!!!!!!!!!! but i am a big floyd head so there u go they say the dvd is really gonna rock its live floyd all their lasers and lights

    Stevie Ray Vaughan - Live from Austin, Texas

    From his Austin City Limits shows... great stuff. His Live at El Mocambo is good too, didn't care for the Live at Montreaux show (although it's a neat SRV story).

    For quality recordings, I second the Diana Krall in Paris, Norah Jones at House of Blues, and Sting - All this Time.

    Like you said, the Eagles Hell Freezes Over is really good.
    James Taylor has a couple of DVD's out in DD. Both are good. His guitar sounds fantastic in these.
    I just bought the Doobie Brother's "Rocking Down the Highway" DVD and I love it. A couple of those songs have some acoustic guitar sounds that sound really sweet.
    Have heard the Fleetwood Mac's "the Dance" and it is also good.

    This is a little heavier than those listed but Dream Theater's "Live at the Budokan" is an awesome DVD. Its also recorded in 5.1.

    Oh hell yeah! I have everything DT has ever put out on DVD or VHS!

    Scenes from a Memory (Metrolpolis 2000) is pretty awesome but its low budget and has cheesy effects but its a great performance just to watch the musicianship and the sound is quite good.

    It's a little before your time (your time frame parameter and the actual music)....

    It's not really a concert per say....It is a documentary with lots of live music in a small concert setting....

    The musicians are guys you have never heard of....but I guarantee you have heard THEM...

    The DTS track is superb....

    SQ, mixing, etc....of the concerts is BETTER than Hell Freezes Over - (And yes...HFO is one of my favorite concert DVDs). I am not a fan of Multichannel music....but this one is done right. The music in front, the reverb and crowd from the back...It is like you were there. No gimmicks...just music like you would hear at a concert....

    If your rig is good....this one will show it.

    Standing In The Shadows of Motown

    A doumentary film about The Funk Brothers (the band behind many of Motown's greatest groups/hits). It can be had for $10 or less....Give it a try....

    So is the Metropolis 2000 DVD just a live show or is it an 'acting out' of the actual story from the CD?

    Its a live show. If youve ever seen Queensryche's Operation LiveCrime, its setup like that.

    They are playing live with big screens behind them showing the footage which is really, REALLY cheap and badly acted but for low budget, whadya expect. The story footage is mixed in with the live footage.

    The sounds is absolutely terrible on that DVD (yes, i'll always disagree with MacLeod on this one). Other than that... good buy! ;)

    Surprised no one suggested the Santana - Supernatural. Very good DVD.
