    Russ,

Yep, I've sent some awsome static looping through the chain when I forgot to discharge on something else before grabbing the tube pre volume pot. That factor alone makes it worth a try.

    Shack,

Thanks for the link. If I tried it, I think I'd just turn my own on the cheap. Dried elephant crap might survive on the lathe at high RPM - two birds, one stone. ;)

We need to invent/market an "audiohphile-grade" static discharge 'device' that sits in your component rack. $$$:)

Good idea! I wonder if the static mats marketed for under the CDP do the trick. Seems like they would have to have a ground source.

Spraying a light bit of Woolite on the carpet in front of the component rack solves the problem temporarily. Downside is all the sheep bleating at the front door.

I just touch the rack during the cold, low(er) humidity days. Everything is on feet and blocks and platforms anyway.

    Cheers,
    Russ

My simple solution to static discharge.......use the remote.

PT, you really need to keep up. Russ asked that his "label" be removed a long time ago. :)

    FYI,

Stereophile Test CD 3, track 21, has a "Home Theater reference & demagnetizing tone".

Did it work? Could not determine as I had a 19 month old playing in the room at the time. Will try again at a future date.

PS - I did notice that my CDs are aligned north/south, but not with magnetic north.;)

Too late! Now I have to start building my system all over again. Glad I don't have problems like you do.

    Over.
